Probably the best course of action would be to replace the hard drive but first you would need to find out what type of interface the hard drive is. For example IDE or SATA.
Look at the pictures below, these are 2 1/2ins laptop hard drives. Your hard drive will no doubt be 3 1/2 ins desktop type hard drives but the interfaces are the same.
I'm fairly certain that the drive in the recorder will be IDE but you will have to check this yourself.
The cost of a new hard drive is not that much these days but i would replace the hard drive with of the same capacity that was in the recorder. 80GB for example.
The cost will be between $40-$60.
