The machine is making a high pitched noise during the spin cycly

One of the most common problems with front load washers is that the shock absorbers that hold the tub in place can break. These shock absorbers steady the tub during the wash and spin cycles. It is when the spin is happening that they take the worst beating. It is also during the spin cycle that the breakage will be most evident. If your load is even a little bit out of balance and the shocks are broken, you machine may dance all over the floor and sound like an airplane about to take off. The tub will flounder around uncontrollably and the clothing will come out very wet because of the tubs inability to maintain the spin speed needed to wring out the water. To see if your machine has broken shock absorbers, remove the bottom cover and look in. About halfway back on either side will be a small cylinder that moves in and out to absorb the movement of the tub. Often the loop that has a pin through it to secure it to the machine will be broken. Sometimes there will be no visible damage, but if you unhook one end of the shock, the slide movement will be very easy and there will be no resistance. The shock should be in and out fairly hard; this is what holds and steady?s the tub of the machine. Washer Problems Washer noise when spinning

With the growing popularity of front load washers comes a whole different set of washer problems then what was experience with the older top load washers. Front load washers are built quite a bit differently and have many different parts than top load machines.

One of the most common problems with front load washers is that the shock absorbers that hold the tub in place can break. These shock absorbers steady the tub during the wash and spin cycles. The shock should be in and out fairly hard; this is what holds and steady’s the tub of the machine.

The parts are easy to find online by doing a search for “appliance parts” and then entering your model number in the box provided by most websites. The replacement is fairly easy and can be done by most people with a bit of patience and a few hand tools.

When spinning the drum seems like it hits side, I hopened the back, shock absorbers and springs look ok

Hi,
You need to take the shock off one of the pins and check to see if it is hard to move it in and out... if it moves easily then it is bad. Also check to make sure that none of the loops that the pin goes through are broken.
My bet is that the spring is broken inside of the shock where you cannot see it. you will need to actually move it in ans out to check it.

You can find parts for your unit by doing a search for “appliance parts”.
Once you get the results of the search, pick a site and when it comes up it will usually ask for the model number of your unit.
Enter your model number and you will then get a page with exploded views and a parts menu.
Find the part you need and then order it.
Check a few different sites to be sure that you are getting the best pricing.
Most sites can have the part to you in a couple of days.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Our whirlpool front load washer has started making a loud knocking noise during the spin cycle. We have tried smaller loads, etc and still the problem persists. Can it be fixed?

Hi,
Yes it can be fixed.
The problem is that the shocks that hold the tub are broken. They break usually on the loop that holds them in place. These are replaced rather easily.
Do a search for "appliance parts" then enter the model number of your washer.
Most sites will have exploded views and a parts menu for you to order from.
You can order new shocks for your washer, install them and you will be good as new.
Shop a couple of sites to be sure you get the best price.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

My maytag washer is very loud during the spin cycle it sounds like an airport. ALso it is now giving and E3 code when in spin cycle.

My washer did that, a very similar front loader also. Investigation turn up broken shock absorbers that stabilize the tub, Remove the front panel under the front door and look in there. On each side there is a little shock that holds the tub stable. They looked good at first, but when I moved the tub around I could see that the loop on the end was broken off where the pin fastened the shock to the base. Replacement was not that hard but aggrivating to get to and get leverage to install the pins.
Do a search for "appliance parts" and you can order right on line. Checkout a number of sites as the prices vary a lot...
The replacements were heavier than the originals, so you will be better off after replacement.

MY rodeo is boucing

I would suspect you have a broken or worn out shock or strut. If it is bouncing in the rear or front or one is broken replace both shocks/struts. They must be replaced in pairs. You may have to replace all four, depending on their condition. If you see a leak they definitely are worn out. Worn shocks/struts will cause your tires to cup and wear out prematurely. They will also cause your vehicle to handle poorly especially in an emergency maneuver. This can be very dangerous so do not neglect worn or broken suspension parts.

Broken shock and drum/seal leak

Power off the wall mains. Open up the machine panel to look interiors. See if any springs or shocks (known as dampers) have broken or come off. The dampers should not slide in & out freely, if they're defective, replace. Tighten all loose wires, which may have come loose, future probs, so you dont have to open up again.

Next level your machine, front legs way up, means your machine is tilting towards you. Then adjust accordingly so that u cannot shake the machine with both your hands. Lock the nuts, only the fronts legs are adjustable, for most machines. (will get back to u)

Shocks broke, now drums spins freely

What you need to check thoroughly are the belt & the 2 shocks (dampers). The dampers should be replaced & fitted tightly, broader ends fitted below.
