Question about Epson Stylus Pro 7800 InkJet Printer

Epson 7800 full waste tank

I'm teaching in italy and planned to use their epson 7800 for printing. The guy here insisted on running a cleaning cycle. End result is the waste tank now reads as full. I'm told it will take three to four weeks to have a new tank delivered. I think it will be closer to five. Classes will be over by then. Is there any way I can make the current tank work for another twenty or so prints? Wash it out or reset the controller? Anything?

Light Cyan printing problem in R230 model printer noozle seems to be bocked. From: nain

Cleaning cycles use lots of ink. Go to and buy a CISS for your printer. It will save you tons of money, you never change cartridges and never run out of ink [yes, you do have to fill the tanks once in a while] Bulk ink is cheap. The CISS will pay for itself in a month. Don't forget to get a Waste Ink Container, it hooks up to the printer and instead of the unusable ink going to the waste ink pad, it goes to the container which can then be emptied, washed and used over and over. The waste ink pad when full will need to be replaced or the printer will not print. Changing the pad is messy and a PITA. They have cleaning kits.

Tank absorber full and lights blinking

The POWER Lamp Flashes Orange Eight flashes: Waste ink tank almost full
The printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink tank is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative.

Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink tank becomes completely full, printing will no longer be possible.

Canon i470D Waste Ink Tank is Completely Full. How Do I Clean It?

There is a cleaning solution sold on E-bay for Cannon i470D print heads.
Or you can try a little ammonia. I used a cap full of ammonia in each side of the print head where the ink tanks go.
Put the print head in a can and let it set in the ammonia for 5-15 minutes then blot dry with paper towels and let stand until dry.
Then run the maint routines for the print head found under properties/maintance.

You need to reset the waste tank or the counter to resolve the problem.

If your C42 blinks both lights and displays a message to the effect that parts inside your printer have reached the end of their servicable life, then you probably need to clean the waste ink pads. These pads collect waste ink whenever the printer cleans it's heads. The printer counts how much ink it thinks is in the waste ink pads and refuses to print when they are full.

To verify whether this is the case, download the "SSC Service Utility" from
