Bought an epc smartbook with wifi but I cant get it to work wirelessly Works ok with ethernet.please help.

are you at home , work or startbucks? or air port?
do you have wifi router in the home?(model#)
Is it your wifi router or owned by ISP.?
do you know your wifi login credentials.?
how far are you from the wifi router, try at 6ft as test.?
or try ethernet wired. to see if your enternet connection really work.
does it even have this option?

wifi is simple when it works then if not the not so simple at all.
I can't see your PC nor what Wifi systems you have

Sure, this is possible.

On many laptop/netbooks there is a quick switch to turn wifi on/off. On the eeePC, I believe you press FN+F2 to toggle wifi on/off. Try this, and if it doesn't work, I would take it back to the store where you bought it from as it will still be under warranty and support.

why not use a 2nd PC to see if wifi fails there too

wifi is complex, (when failed)
so say what ethernet does? (real online)
and learn that in the taskbar, you switch off wifi first to run on Ethernet. it will show icon for ethernet . and good. and browsing works. the web.
if only 1 PC fails on wifi we fix the PC fails
of 2 PC fail we fix the router. see?

make sure the internet setting are correct, that they are set to automatically detect settings.
Internet explorer / tools / internet options / connections / at the botom, Lan settings, and tick automatically detect settings

If your laptop does not have a wireless card built into the computer then yes I would go and buy a usb wifi adapter because you cant get wifi if you dont get one.

Have you tried restoring the computer back a couple of days to see if that clears up the hardware hiccup? You can also go to device manager and uninstall the device and delete the drivers. Turn the laptop off, take the wireless card out. Start the laptop back up and boot it fully....After a few, shut down again. Install the wireless card and restart the laptop. When asked to install the drivers for new device found, say ok, make sure you are online with an ethernet line so windows can go online and load the newest drivers unless you have them on your C drive already.
