Water appears to be mixing with the oil in the motor of my truck

Are you talking about "dark" and cloudy??? or whitish or tannish cloudy??? When motor oil gets some miles on it, it turns a little blacker and more difficult to see through. If this happens to be the "cloudy" you're talking about, things are probably normal. However, when oil gets to looking milky, you've likely got a serious problem.. Water (or coolant) in the oil creates this milky appearance. It depends somewhat on what engine you have in your truck in determining the exact cause of the problem.... but the possibilities are blown head gasket, cracked head, cracked engine block, or some other similar malady.. Good luck...

My maxim steam coffee machine will boil the water and froth the milk, but for some reason will no longer allow water to feed through to make the expresso - any ideas?

First things first, try a descaling solution, especially if you live where there's hard water. Sometimes minerals can crust up the brewing portion of the internal tubing. The steam part still works because it essentially leaves the limescal in the pot, channeling only steam through the steaming wand. Dump out any water in the reservoir, then put in a mix of half filtered or distilled water, and white vinegar. Run it through, setting the switch for brew mode only. Once you see it coming out of the filter holder, turn the machine off. Let sit for an hour or two, then run the same sequence again, shutting it off the moment you see the water/vineger mix coming out. Once again, let sit a while, then on the third cycle, let it run all of the vinegar solution through. Let cool, and rinse the reservoir with water, (put in water, swirl the machine around, then upend it to dump the water out.) then run the full reservoir of distilled wather through, repeating if necessary, to clear out the vinegar.

If that doesn't work, or if the vinegar solution never comes through, not even in a trickle, then there are other issues. Here's how to troubleshoot them.

The next steps will need to be done with some caution, as it may splash or shoot steam and/or boiling water out from the side of the porta filter holder!

Step 1...Remove the filter, and run it without coffee or filter in it. Do this from a few feet away or with something between you and the brew head of the machine, as it may cause hot water to spray with a fair amount of force!

Does the water come through the filter holder? If it does..

Step 2. Run it with the empty filter. If it the water doesn't come through with filter in place, then your filter is clogged, and you'll need to take a pin and clear the holes in it. If it does, then you're grinding your coffee too finely, or tamping it down to hard.

If the water doesn't come through with just the empty filter holder, then you've most likely got a valve (A.k.a. Brew/steam switch) problem. Frankly, it's easier to buy a new machine than replace that valve, especially if it's the automatic variety that switches you to steam whenever it's finished it's brew cycle.

If you've got one with the manual brew/steam switch valves, you can pull the knob off and see if it the stem turns with a needle nose pliers...{{NOTE: DO NOT DO THIS IF THERE IS STEAM LEAKING AROUND THE KNOB! Steam leaking around this knob can indicate that the ceramic valve is compromised, and could cause live steam to shoot out of the place where the knob is!}} if it does turn as smoothly as usual, and the machine works, then you just need to repair the knob because it's gotten stripped out or is broken where it meets the valve stem.

I have a new Ge profile modesl pdw7880 dishwasher. It does not clean the dishes. The glasses have a milky white film and spots. The black arm on the bottom has a white coated build up. Also there is a...

If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is to add some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1 cup of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

I have a Gaggia Evolution expresso maker about 8 years old. When button is pressed to start motor it just hums and no hot water comes out. The motor only runs if I open the steam outlet

Try this, under the grouphead, there is a screw and screen, remove those, and check screen to see if it is clogged, when screen is removed press button to brew, if water flows freely then problem is at the screen, if no water flows, then it is on the inside of the machine. You will have to run a descale cycle to clear out machine. Check the folling pic for the screen location.2722dbe.jpg

The oil is probably milky or cloudy also .... I hope not.  If the oil is milky or cloudy too, it is likely you have
blown head gasket cracked cylinder head warped cylinder head.
You could try something like Barr's stop leak radiator additive to plug up the place where oil and water are mixing, but I don't recommend this,  it will be temporary if it does anygood at all.
The car can continue to run for quite a while (months) like this, but will start losing coolant, and worse, you'll be sending coolant through the lubrication system, prematurely wearing out EVERYTHING inside the engine.
If you have coolant in the oil, this will be an expensive and time consuming repair. Fingers crossed there is not coolant in the oil.

Water problem with Expresso maker

Well as i dont know what machine you have I will give you a generic troule shooting for manual esspresso machines.

first if the steam is working one can make the assumption that the way from the watertank to the bioler is ok.

that leaves us with the handle the filter you put your grindend beans in. Or the filter on the machine.

So first trie and see if it comes out water when you dont have on the handle with the espresson filter.

Will water not come even with the handle off? then its the fitler in the machine. trie and remove it and clean it or trie and descale it and force water through the espresso exit.

Will the water come out just fine with the filter and handle off?
then its those two things.
Trie and put the filter in alitle descaling for a couple of hours and the clean it "extremly" good.
