The keyboard is fixable depending on the amount of coke spilted on it and how long it took before removing the coke but it can be fixed. It won't cost nothing much because is just taking out the keys and spraying the board itself so the coke particules be remove throughly. Im sure its least that $40-$50. Depending on the specialist you carry it to.

If I type a certain etter it wont show on the screen

Have you tried a good keyboard to see if it is the keyboard or the computer. Quite often the keyboard will get food or debrees under a key. try turning it upside down and giving the keyboard a good shaking. If you have spilt soda or something that dries sticky on it , it may need to be cleaned internally or replaced.

Tip

HOw to Clean your keyobard effectively

Keyboard cleaningIf you're trying to clean a laptop keyboard see document CH000780 for additional help and information. All of the below information applies to standard desktop computer keyboards.
Why? Dirt, dust and hair can build up causing the keyboard to not function properly.
Procedure: Many people clean the keyboard by turning it upside down and shaking. A more effective method is to use compressed air. Compressed air is pressurized air contained in a can with a very long nozzle. Simply aim the air between the keys and blow away all of the dust and debris that has gathered there. A vacuum cleaner can also be used, but make sure the keyboard doesn't have loose "pop off" keys that could possibly be sucked up by the vacuum.
Why? If the keyboard has anything spilt into it (ie: pop, cola, Pepsi, Coke, beer, wine, coffee, milk, etc.), not taking the proper steps can cause the keyboard to be destroyed.
Procedure: Below are a few recommendations to help prevent a keyboard from becoming bad once a substance has been spilt within it.
If anything is spilt onto the keyboard turn the computer off immediately. Once the computer is turned off, quickly flip the keyboard over helping to prevent the substance from penetrating circuits. While the keyboard is upside down, shake the keyboard over a surface you do not mind getting wet or that can be cleaned up later. While still upside down, use a cloth to help clean out what can be reached. After you you have cleaned the keyboard to the best of your ability leave the keyboard upside down for at least one night allowing it to dry.
If a keyboard does not work after trying it again later it is recommended that it be replaced. If the keyboard works but some of the keys are sticky or cannot be pressed in you can attempt to do additional cleaning in attempt to resolve the issue. Unfortunately many times when any sticky substance such as a non-diet pop is spilt directly onto the keyboard it's usually a loss unless you plan on spending dozens of hours attempting to clean each key.
Why? A keyboard that is used by multiple people, such as students or different employees, may need to be disinfected to help the spread of germs.
Procedure: Turn off the computer. Spray a disinfectant onto a cloth or damp a cloth with alcohol and rub each of the keys on the keyboard. As mentioned in our general cleaning tips, never spray any type of liquid onto the keyboard.

The @ key does not work on my compaq keyboard. how do I make it work?

you may have your keyboard set to the wrong locale. UK English keyboards are different from US English - some critical keys, like @, are in different places.
In your computer settings, check keyboard setting are set appropriately. In Win7 it's in Control Panel>Clock, Language>Region>Keyboards.

Can't get into the bios for a presario 4716

This is what the Compaq site had to say about the BIOS utility for your system (Source: Compaq): • • • •You may have difficulty accessing the BIOS Setup utility screen, because you must press a specific key(usually F1) very quickly before the Windows screen appears. If you do not enter the BIOS Setup screen on your first try, repeat the following steps until you are successful.

To open the BIOS Setup screen:
1. Turn off the PC and wait about 5 seconds.
2. Turn on the PC.
3. When the first screen appears, press the F1 key on the keyboard. (You can press the key more than once.) The BIOS Setup Utility Main menu appears.
NOTE: On certain Compaq Presario PCs (prior to 2002) press the F10 key at the logo screen to enter setup.
4. Use the keyboard to navigate through the menus.
You may need to remove the battery and then back in.

My son has spilt coke on the laptop 1 key not working O

If you spill drinks on a keyboard, something is bound to break, and apparantly only the O key did... The only way to fix it is to get a new keyboard, I'm sorry. I hope this helps, Yannick.

Emachine desktop is hanging at the intial startup screen

Most probably the keyboard has konked out. Simply try the same with a working keyboard & mouse, 'cos it seems to get stuck during POST(power on self test) due to one or more components malfunctioning. If you had removed the PS2 jacks recently, check for bent pins too.................sodeep

Hi, I have recently purchased an amilo La1703 and only used it for approx. 48 hours. The screen does not appear to be working. Any suggestions on what is wrong, can't download a product support guide.

we will try the simpliest idea first. You may have inadvertently shut off the monitor (yes you can do that). Along the top of the keyboard look for a key that looks like a little monitor (it may be printed on the side). i believe you need to hit alt at the same time as the key to turn it on.

I have spilt coke on the keybord of my fujitsu simens v5535 lptop. How do I get the keyboard out to clean it?

In many cases you may not actually need to remove the keyboard to clean it. Go to an office supply store or specialty computer store (not bestbuy etc) and get a keyboard cleaning kit. These come with a bottle of cleaning fluid and a two sided tool with a brush and a thin sponge, this can get in between your keys and scrub the base.
