Question about Siemens Dishwashers

Open Question

Hi, I have a Siemens SE24A230GB/17 dishwasher and it is not completing the wash cycle (any selected). It appears to be stuck on the 'wash' part of the program. I have done the reset actions as advised in the User Manual and tried another program, without success. I have found that the possible causes could be the timer or thermostat. The estimated time remaining display counts down, but the program does not complete the wash and move onto rinse and dry. Any help or advice you can provide would be apreciated

UNfortunately that sounds like the controle module and you can not have that fixed. only replacement of the part will fix that problem
HERE you can find the drawing and parts. You can also order them here

SOURCE: Frigidaire dishwasher not completing cycle.

The cycle doesn't complete
If the cycle doesn't complete, check these:

Water-heating cycle

Water-heating cycle
Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:

On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.

Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

I see an error code
If your dishwasher has a digital readout and you see an error code, it may indicate a problem with the unit. If this happens, look up the error code in your owner's manual to find out what the problem is.

Good Luck
Thanks for using FixYa

This sounds like something is stuck in the drain pump. You can remove the inner cover to look for obstructions. You have a dual purpose motor it does the both circulating and draining. The blockage is causing it to overheat and trip the thermal protector. You can remove the drain assembly from underneath if you don't find anything from above. There is a video at that walks you thru most of this. It is a different model but pretty close. If you find no obstructions the motor may be failing.

Possible that the program controller timer is a suspect. You need to check the ouput from the timer and see if there is voltage absent on the cycle to power the motor. This will confirm why the motor is not working. Also the pump and the drain valves can be seperately checked on the outside by simulating with an external voltage.
check for tips from the link below:

SOURCE: My dishwasher does not complete

Thier are 2 possible things causing the timer not to advance(without knowing the model# i am assuming it does have a timer as oppesed to a touchpad/electronic control)

1) the timer motor is defective and it isn't advancing to the next repair that the timer needs to be replaced

2) IF EQUIPPED on your model..the part called the energy option switch is bad and it needs to be replaced...GE/Hotpoint dishwashers used this energy option switch on several models and when it was bad it would not send power to the timer.

If your model has a energy option switch i would highly suspect that as being the problem

Stuck on washing cycle

Thank you for your post, Patrick Chow!

From my understanding your Frigidaire dishwasher is getting stuck in the washing cycle. Sounds like you may have a possible issue with a sensor or control panel. I would suggest performing a reset on your dishwasher and you can do that by disconnecting power from your dishwasher for approximately ten minutes. If you continue to experience problems with you dishwasher not cycling I would recommend reaching out to a technician for a diagnosis to be completed. The technician would be able to pinpoint the cause of the failure and complete repairs. Hope this is helpful. -Matt

Siemens se25m275gb

Dishwashers tend to get stuck on wash cycle if the water temperature is not reaching the level the wash program expects it to reach. This could be due to faulty heater or thermostat or both.

One test is to run the dishwasher on a rinse cycle (normal water temperature) and see if it completes it.

Insufficient water to wash

Siemens and other large companies do not generally produce appliances that do not perform the intended function so it would be reasonable to assume your machine has a fault.

You will probably need expert help to cure that fault...
