Hi,
This can be done while setting correct option before initiating the print job. Before you submit the final 'finish' to print, goto printing preference and select the 'black and white' option to print. This will make the print out to be in black and white.
Please come back and vote for me if this turns to be helpful for you or if you need more clarifications.
Thnx
try to replace new black ink cartridge if same problem you need to clean printer head, if dried out can cause to damage the ckt and need to replace the whole assembly.
Did it come with any software? My printer wouldn't print when I tried using the scan button. If it came with software you could try scanning using that. If you dont have it it's probably available for download on canon's website
I had the same problem. The all-in-one driver download doesn't include the stuff you need for the scanner. Go to this link (canon), click "OSX" on the dropdown list for what os you're using, then click "mp520sosxsd1391ej7.dmg" under "MP520 series Scanner Driver Ver. 13.9.1 (Mac OS X 10.2/10.3/10.4/10.5/10.6)." It doesn't take long to download and completely fixes the problem.
Ink blockage between tank and printhead. Take out colour tanks and clean. with cartridge flushing agent in a spare tank, or do them all at the same time with cartridge flushing liquit.
