Our automatic ice maker will not quit dripping in the freezer. It keeps clogging the ice maker with icicles and large blocks of ice. Essentially, it keeps "freezing over." We have defrosted it...

if it keeps filling and overflowing you have a bad water valve on the back of the fridge.the part number is WR57X10027 and the valve is around 75 dollars.first thing lift the arm or shut off the ice maker so it won't leak anymore, you're missing a few letters off of the model number so when you call your parts store give them the full model number, open the fridge door, look up on the right hand side wall up near the ceiling and give them the model number to make sure you get the correct valve, shut off the water supply to the fridge, then have the new valve next to the old valve when you remove a water line from the old valve just connect it to the new valve,do this until everything is changed out and the new valve is in place, turn on the water supply and you can check the ice maker to make sure it doesn't overflow.you can manually start the ice maker by grabbing the plastic arms of the ice maker and pull them forwards slowly until the arms start to advance on their own, you'll hear the water valve fill the ice maker and then you can watch it fill to see if the water is filling it correctly and i'm sure you'll be fine with the new water valve installed

First of all, your freezer should be much lower than 38 degrees. For the ice maker to even work proplerly it has to be below 10 F. Some models have a heater that goes around the fill tube to keep that from happening, but in my opinion, if its only three days old, take it back because it's much too soon for that problem to be occuring.

Model #36378285890 The ice maker will not shut off keeps dropping ice.

On mine the ice detection arm gets jammed with ice piled up so that it doesn't swing up. This in turn makes the machine think there's not enough ice, and it will overfill. Also, when it does catch some ice under it it will hold on to the ice, thinking it's full, when the catch bucket is depleted.

The fix would be a stronger motor on the arm enabling it to break through the ice. Costly.

We monitor the ice level, and just lift or drop the arm as required. A small price to pay.

You do know that Kenmore does not make appliances. They contract out to folks like Frigidaire and put the Kenmore name on it.

Ice maker overfill

The metal off/on arm may be disconnected. A full bin should keep the arm in the up position and shut off the ice maker.
Remove, then re-insert the metal arm in the back of the ice maker control head.
Make sure that a full bin of ice activates the control arm.
You may need to buy a replacement arm that is longer so that the ice catches on the arm.

Thunder, I ran into a couple of these, bottom freezer with the same problem, I got a hold of LG and they came out with a different bailing arm on the ice maker. Part number mfc39559901. When I received the part, it almost looked identical to the arm that was on the ice maker. I replaced it anyway and ***** got the call back, but I'm still a little miffed by it. The part is around 8.00, you can get it at repairclinic.com Catriver.

Ice maker won't stop making ice

OK, there's two possible issues but you have to figure out what is happening. Does the ice maker continue to make ice forever and would fill up the whole freezer section in time OR does the ice maker just "over make" ice that overfills the bin which then falls out? If the ice maker just keeps making ice you need the motor module replaced but if it can be turned off by moving the lever up then you need the "modified lever assy." that is on our service bulletins.
