Question about Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

I have a kenwood KA 1060 amp, and recently changed the fuse on the first PCB board where the mains power lead connects to the unit as the fuse had blown. After doing so and testing it again the fuse has blown immediately again after two more fresh fuse changes. Do you know the source of this problem? Thanks!

Most likely the output transistors are shorted. This causes the output stage to draw too much current and blows the fuses. Expect a parts cost around $20-$40. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

Kenwood KA 995 amp. volume control, as you increase or decrease the sound, a loud clicking sound is heard.

Katrina, this sounds like a dirty potentiometer (volume control knob). Try turning the unit off, and exercising the knob. That means turn it full turns, many times, like 70 times. Then try it again with power. Sometimes this helps.

Kenwood KA-76 amp. Left channel distorts and unit overheats then shuts down when volume is turned up. Headphones are not affected.

what happens if you reconnect left and right speakers? Are these problems of the unit or of the speakers/wires?

Kenwood ka 996 integrated amp. The standby light will dont turn off. I also need to see if someone will tell how everything should be hooked up.

the standby light should be on if the unit is not 'ON' if you want the 894 to turn on when you power up the 996, then you will have to plug the ac for the 894 into the 'switched' ac outlet on the back of the 996
what specific problems do you have with this system

How to connect a kenwood ka- 9100 to a pioneer vsx-d608

You don't say, what role the Kenwood is supposed to play but I'll assume you want to slave the Kenwood (and its speakers) to the Pioneer.

The VSX-D608 doesn't have multi-channel pre-outs so you wouldn't have local control of the volume at the Pioneer.

The KA could be a subwoofer amp as the Pioneer has a pre-out for that.

Outs to Ins. "Power In" on the KA would be for an external volume-controlled source. Otherwise, use one of its non-Phono inputs.

Describe your kenwood manual "ka

Hi, Yes it is safe to leave this connection unhooked. The system control is what the stereo uses to remote control a cassette deck,cd,turntable etc... using the amplifier separately should be o.k. I hope this helps, good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa-Prodzilla

Sansuo qrx-5500, kenwood ka-5002 amplifier, and a self powered sub. What is the best way to hook this items together?

Depends what you want to do with those three units. Can you elaborate?

For example, what speakers will be on each?

What model of sub? I'm sure its manual would tell you how to connect it to an amp that has no specific subwoofer output.

Help required for dumbo on Amps Denon AVR 2808CI

Your unit was probably damaged in shipping. Denon is a nice unit! Do you hear any clicks when you hit the power button??? You should hear two relay clicks. You should hear the power relay click at power on and 3 to 5 seconds later you should hear the speaker protection relay click if your audio amp section is ok. If you hear both relays click then your display circuit is at fault. Open the unit and look for breaks on the front pcb (behind the display) and on the main board in the power section ( where the fuses are ).
Good Luck!
