Assuming truck is neg chassis/ground

Neg of inverter to neg of batt
Pos of inverter to pos of batt

they have one thing in common...the chassis ground...wirebrush the lug that connects the chassis....wirebrush the chassis...get a NEW battery if yours is older than five...tin/antimony batteries (NO LEAD) anymore....knock off labels on the top of the battery will identify the month and year of the first charge~

The entire frame and chassis of the vehicle is grounded via a heavy gauge cable from the (-) post of the battery. Various jumpers are used to ensure the (-) 12 volt side of the battery is present on body panels, framework, etc. throughout the vehicle.

The *best* place to connect electrically operated devices (audio especially) in the vehicle is AT the (+) & (-) battery posts - or as CLOSE to those points as practical. Doing so, will reduce the chances of objectionable "noise" being introduced to the radio on the power leads. This is especially true when trying to connect the ground or (-) lead(s) for equipment. "Dirty" power can actually be heard through speakers as static, hiss, popping, whine, etc. The battery is the cleanest source of power in the vehicle and should be used whenever clean power is essential.

Engine ground wire


Grounds are very important in these vehicles. Usually, the ground will go from the battery through a thick cable to the engine. There will also usually be a smaller wire going from the ground on the battery to one of the fenders. There will then be several ground wires going from the engine to various points on the chassis. An example would be a ground wire going from the back of the cylinder head to the firewall. Chrysler's use a system to energize critical engine components through the ASD or Automatic Shutdown Relay. In this system, power is sent to important components like fuel injectors, ignition coils and fuel pumps at all times via the ignition switch, relays and fuses. The computer then makes or breaks the grounds based off of data from various sensors. A faulty ground to the computer, battery, frame or chassis could easily result in a no start condition. Make sure all grounds are connected as required and are free of corrosion. Running extra ground wires from the battery to the engine and chassis can always help things as well.

Since there isn't any power relationship between the Power Windows and Wipers, I suspect a fault in the vehicle's grounding...The car has some years on it and this type of grounding problem is quite common...If you have a multimeter and a wee bit of experience using it, here is a test procedure to eliminate grounding as the cause...
Set the meter on the X10 ohm scale...Place one probe on the top center of the Negative Battery Terminal and the other probe on Bare Metal of the chassis (fender bolt is a good location)...You must read close to zero ohms...Leaving the probe on the negative battery terminal, move the other probe to Bare Metal on the engine block...Again reading must be close to zero ohms...If you read 500- 2500 ohms Ground Straps need to be installed from the negative battery terminal to the chassis and from there to the engine block...Guru..............Saailer

Power/ Ground Problem. Im running a 6ga Power wire to the battery (approx 6')with a 40amp fuse. The amp turns on, then about 10 seconds later blows the fuse. The ground is the same ga wire and is grounded...


1. Start by undoing your ground.
2. Use a jumper cable to hook up the ground to the battery ground.
3. Install fuse and test.

If it continues to blow you have an internal amp problem.

If it fails to blow a fuse you have a problem with the chassis ground.

If it is a ground issue you can chase down the various ground straps and clean the connections or you can run another ground cable to the chassis (body) ground to the battery to reestablish the connection.

Yup, grounding problem.
There is a grounding strap from the engine to the chassis. It is either loose, corroded, damaged, missing, or otherwise not making good contact with the engine or chassis. If you can't locate it, then ground has been using the "pigtail" wire coming off the negative battery side.
If you had the battery or cables services recently, then the wrong negative cable was installed. Installing a ground strap (AutoZone $8) from engine to chassis is better anyway.

The commmon thing is GROUND.
Probably the ground strap from the engine to the chassis is worn, broken, loose, corroded, or otherwise not making good ground.
Check the negative cable on the battery to see if the "pigtail" is disconnected.

Replace or install a ground strap from the engine to the chassis.

Do that first; otherwise, on the positive side, the inline 100Amp FuseLink may be blown.

I install wire from the battery to the amp ground the amp then i installed the audio jack from the reciver to amp an then the speaker wire an nothin


Power amps must be connected + battery wire to the amp +b terminal with a gauge 8 or bigger depending on the power rating, - ground to the car chassis as short as possible,connect cords from head unit to power amp with good groundings, and remember to connect the speakers and the remote trigger from head unit to turn the amp on.

Both power and ground connections must be used for proper operation. Connect 4AWG wire from both +12V connections to a fuse block with a 250A inline fuse, which will then connect to the battery. Ground both ground connections to a good, close point on the chassis.
