Not really a problem. I am just wondering what the running wattage is and what the startup wattage is. I am trying to figure usage for my emergency generator.

What do i have to know about watts in order to work out each appliances power usage aday

Add up all the wattages of the appliances you are using when they come on and go off including lights. fridges. freezers, fans , stoves, tools and every thing. add them all up and you will get thousands of watts called kilo watts . see how many you use per hour and you will get a kilowatt/hr usage rate. Find out the power cost per kilowatt/hr and multiply the usage by the cost and you have your answer. Or you can get a wireless transmitter that is clamped around the input line to your premises and it transmits to a receiver to inside your house (mine sits on the fridge) and it tells you the cost as everything is running . press the mode button and you get progressive cost and other modes are there as well. It is great because if I forget and leave the pool running I can see at a glance that something drawing a lot of power is running so I can check it out and turn it off. Ask you power provider about it or a good electrical shop.

Oster Fpstdh0101 4tray Electric Food Dehydrator wattage

well, I'm guessing on the tag or label it shows something like this
120V ~ 60 hz 10.5 amps or
120V ~ 60 hz 10.5A or
120V ~ 60hz 11A (some manufactures round up if it falls into the same wire gauge)
120Volts ~ 60hz 1260w or
120Volts ~ 60HZ 1260 watt
120V stands for normal operating voltage
"~" means ac current
60 herzts stands for how many cycles

So if your unit shows only amps, it's really simple to figure out wattage

take the voltage shown, in my example it's 120, then multiply the amps, in my example it's 10.5. So 120 X 10.5 = 1260 watts

W = V * A

and vice versus, if it only show wattage and you needed to know what gauge wire you needed to run a receptical to operate it

AMPERAGE = VOLTS / WATTAGE

Hi,
Do you have any antivirus program installed? If you have, check if it set to scan during startup. This might be the reason why your computer is slow during startup since a full computer scan can definitely eat up memory usage.
Hope this helps.

Hi. I have a 5000 watt inverter in my truck. The alternator in the truck is a 150? amp alternator. I also have 3 deep cycle batteries (about 150 ah each) to run the inverter. Is this overkill for my...

A 5000 wat inverter is very large. Your alternator could not supply it alone without the batteries. The moderate to low usage is the key. Calculate the wattage of the load you want to connect. Depending on what else you're doing with the truck, lights, heater, air condition etc, you could probably draw somewhere between 1,0000-1500 watts on that alternator. Rember even if your alternator is rated for 150amps (large alt) it is not a 100% duty cycle. Alternators are usually around 50% duty cycle, so figure about 75amps continuous, or around 900 watts. That's considerably less than your 5,000 watt inverter. Buy a generator.

On switching on computer it comes up with RUNDLL Error loading thxr.wgo The specified module could not be found. I don't know what it means - I just keep clicking OK but we are having problems with the...

thxr.wgo was detected as a Trojan. You really need to remove the file. From your explanation it sounds you have already removed it but there are some startup entries which are trying to execute it.

To remove the startup entries you can try running hijackthis ( you can google and download ) uncheck the option which has the the filename "thxr.wgo" I recommend not to go for any other options until you know how to use hijackthis.

Refer the link to understand usage of hijackthis.

Hi i was wondering what bulb to put in the headlight and front light as the 12V5W burns out really quickly(2 days) headlight lasts alot longer however not the brightest.

The wattage shouldnt cause them to blow, the most common reason is vibration, followed by high voltage. check the voltage , should be around 13v running

Macbook pro, high CPU usage caused by HPImager? HELP! :S

Try going to system preferences, then click on accounts, then click on login items, and then delete all the startup programs you see there. It doesn't delete the actual programs. It just deletes them from automatically starting. Also, there is a free utility that you can use to adjust fan speed upon startup. Its called SMC fan control and you can Google it for download.

CPU usage very high, mouse very slow man

hi,
you haven't mentioned whether your mouse started moving after you deleted the applications..
Anyway to lower your CPU usage, you can do the following...
1. Run 'msconfig' without the inverted comas in the run dialog box. ( start--> run )
2. Select the startup tab... you can disable all application at startup to load the system faster. or you can select the application that you thing is unnecessary. this needs a restart.
3. Next try to press Ctrl, Alt , Del at the ssame time to launch the task manager. First you will be seeing the application that is running. Go to the next tab that is the Processes tab. under this you will see all the processes that is running and utilsing how much resources . Below on the status bar of that window you will see the cpu usage... Now identify the processes that has the highest memory usage... right click and select end process tree. the process will be stopped. Remember not to end the explorer.exe process. Most resources is utilised by Anti-virus softwares like norton, also by web-browsing and graphics opertaions....

hope to get rated as fixya!!

Washer Power Requirements

Hello kgodsave,

You are not really going to run everything in the house while using your washing machine, isn't it? If your machine runs on 1 horse power (HP) motor (which is unlikely), thats already 746 watts. say you are running some little wattage appliances say total of 1,000 watts. Double that figure and you get 2kw. A 2kva to 3kva generator would be ideal...got plenty clearance for unexpected load.
