When I changed my filter in my Whirlpool refrigerator, my refrigerator stopped making ice and dispensing water. How do I get it to start back making ice and dispensing water.

If you still have the old filter replace the new with the previous. If all works OK check new filter for blockage or manufacturing defect. Usually most units will work with no filter installed.

It is likely that you have not fully assembled the new filter in the location.

The filter can be removed and there should be no leak and the ice maker and water dispenser should work just like before except the water is not filtered. This feature is available for customers who have whole house filters.

Hope this helps?

What causes leak between filter and filter housing on kenmore elite model 40141003010.

Hello Emile;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

I assume your changed the below component:

25693704-zbtre13rzitqz5mqvrpod1im-1-0.jpg At the ends of the plastic tubing are plastic push pull connectors. If the tubing is not properly seated and locked into the connector you will have a leak.
You may also have a crack in the connecting tubing from the water tank.
When you use your water dispenser, the water dispenser solenoid valve allows 65 PSI water pressure into the plastic tubing line, where if you have a bad connector or a crack in the line will cause a leak.
The is a plastic cap on the top of the above component.
1.) Put your fingers behind the above component where the tubing goes into the plastic mounting head. More often than not you can get bad parts
2.) Have someone push the water dispenser lever. Observe if water is running down the plastic tubing or if your fingers are getting wet.

How does water line connections disconnect and reconnect on the water valve coming from the water filter housing?

Grab the water line close to the connection to the filter. Push the water toward the filter. In that poisition, push the round sleeve on the filter connection forward.hold it there and pull the water line out.

Water filter leaking when water dispenser is used. what causes this

you have either a bad seal on the filter or the filter housing. if your filter is over 6 mo. to a year old change it and see if that solves your problem. if it doesn't you will need to change the filter housing also

Refrigerator dispenses ice, but does not dispense water?

Unfortunately, the housing that the water filter fits into is also the housing for the solenoid controlled water valve, and that is the most likely failure item.

Water dispenser and ice maker don't work

You have a bad water filter housing. Be sure to turn of the water to the refrigerator before replacing this part. Replace the filter at the same time.
