Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9549L Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Whirlpool Ultimate Care II-Model #LSQ9010PW2. About a year ago the delicate would not complete, the timer would make a humming noise but not advance. So, I quit using that cycle. Then the washer would fill with water and not advance further. I could turn the know and it would make a faint humming sound but do nothing. We replaced the timer but now it's like all of the cycles are off. The tub will fill with water, then instead of washing it begins the spin and rinse cycle. This is with a NEW timer. I'm at my wits end! What should we do?? Please, help. Thank you. Donna

Granting that the timer wiring is not messed up, check the drain while the machine spins and rinses instead of washing. If there's water being pumped out of the drain hose, then the machine is indeed rinsing and spinning and there must be an issue with the wiring of the timer. But if there's no water being pumped out and the machine washes/agitates at the same time spins, then the issue is with the break and clutch assembly. The brake shoes must hold the brake drum and prevent the basket from spinning. The brake shoes are released only when the motor turns in the other direction and the clutch tab push the brake cam driver and release the brake to allow the basket to spin.

How could I check to see if the timer wiring is faulty?

Forget about the timer wiring. The wires to the timer are connected by single connector block so there's no possibility of messing them up. As you did mentioned in your post, the tub fills with water and then instead of washing it begins the spin
and rinse cycle. Confirm first if there's water being
pumped out of the drain hose during that alleged spin and rinse cycle. If
there's none and the machine washes/agitates at
the same time spins, then the issue is with the brake and clutch
assembly. The brake shoes must hold the brake drum and prevent the
basket from spinning. The brake shoes are released only when the motor
turns in the spin direction and the clutch tab push the brake cam
driver and release the brake then allow the basket to spin.

Yes it is a timer issue, and yes the whole timer will need to be replaced. If you are handy it is not very hard. You can order the timer from marcone.com with your model # and it will show you a parts breakdown so you can see hoe to replace it easier

Whirlpool Ultimate care II doesnt' advance through

Lean washer on its back and check for broken wire from the motor wire harness up the back panel.
If you find the wire repair it and make sure the wire harness is secure in the provided clips.

I can't find the model number on washer Whirlpool Ultimate Care

Model # and info is under the lid. Open lid and look directly under it - area facing you. You should see a small silver tag with all the factory info on it. My washer is also 9 years old.
