That all depends.

I have a Sony Xplod Sub, also 12" and 4ohm, and it is a 1000w sub.

But my friend has sub that is also 4ohm and yet it is only 500w.

The ohm mean nothing when trying to figure out the wattage.

Whats the best way to hook up 2-10'' 4 ohm dual voice coil to the d5 1200.1 amp

4x4 ohm voice coils can be configured to either run @ 1 ohm, 4 ohm or 16 ohm, while the amp needs to be dropped to 2 ohms, no lower, to be most efficient. if a single dvc sup could handle 1200 watts, then hjust run 1, with both coils positive and negative inputs connected to the amps output. if you needed both subs, you would lilely only get 600 watts, by creating a 4 ohm load by running both speakers to the amp positive to 1 ccoil, each speaker, an mjumper cable between the negative of 1sdt clils to positive of 2nd coins, and running both 2nd coil negatives back from both speakers to the amp negative. the 2nd wscenerio will result in less sheer wattwage, but will also provide cleaner power. you need to study ohms law and parallel versus serial wiring to accomplish the 2nd scenerio, or, just get 2 4 ohm single voice coil speakers that can handle 600 watts apiece.

I dont have any cosmetic problems with my subs .. but i have 4, 12 inch hifonics olympian subs in one sealed box. and i cant find any specs on them at all.. do you know the watts and rms wattage and how...

look on the bottom of subwoofer should say like olm2412 olm1612 olympus the 1612 is the rms and speaker size 2412 is 2400 rms and the 12 stands for 12 inch subwoofer.i think thair is only 2 modles . also u have 4 u would need a 10,000 rms amp if thay are the olm2412s or 6,000 rms amp to push 4 olm1612. as far as box building info i think you should call maxxsonnics. 847-540-7700 talk to mike

How do i wire mtx 9500 subs 2 10'' down to a one ohm

THE T9510-04 SUBS ARE SINGLE COIL SUBS AND YOU CAN VIEW THAT WIRING DIAGRAM AT THE FOLLOWING LINK:
http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/subwoofers/TechData_T9510-04.pdf

THE T9510-44 SUBS ARE DUAL VOICE-COIL SUBS AND YOU CAN VIEW THAT WIRING DIAGRAM AT THE FOLLOWING LINK:
http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/subwoofers/TechData_T9510-44.pdf

SINCE YOU NEED A 1 OHM LOAD, I PRESUME BRIDGED AND ARE USING TWO SUBS, THEN HOPEFULLY YOU HAVE THE DUAL VOICE COIL TYPE, AS THEY ARE DUAL 4 OHM AND YOU WILL HAVE TO CONNECT THE VOICE-COILS IN PARALLEL WHICH WILL MAKE EACH SPEAKER A 2 OHM SPEAKER AND THEN CONNECT THE TWO SPEAKERS THEMSELVES IN PARALLEL AND THIS WILL PROVIDE YOU THE 1 OHM LOAD. IF YOU IN FACT HAVE THE SINGLE 4 OHM VOICE COIL VERSION, THEN IT WILL ONLY PARALLEL THE PAIR DOWN TO 2 OHMS. OK. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE.....V

I have a 12" xs that has dual 1 ohm vc`s...how do i wire it to get a 1 ohm load?rick

Im sorry but thats not gonna be possible with a single sub with dual 1 ohm voice coils. You can wire it to achieve 2 ohm or 1/2 ohm. You will need to add a second sub to get to the 1 ohm mark.
play around on this site for some clarification: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=12

Wiring 12" icmb-5612 preformance teknique subwoofer

That sub has dual 4-ohm voice coils. It can be wired either as 2-ohm, 4-ohm, or as 8-ohm.

2-ohm = voice coils in parallel (both positives and both negatives connected to your speaker amp out wires).
4-ohm = use only 1 voice coil (either is OK).
8-ohm = voice coils in series (connect the positive of one voice coil to the negative of the other and connect the remaining positive and negative to your speaker amp out wires).

Fried electronics in KLH ASW10-120B subwoofer

It is a 4 ohm nominal impedance woofer. If you put a new woofer in, it will last maybe half an hour and then fry/melt. The problem is the amp, not the woofer. Throw the amp out and use the box as a passive sub. Get a 100 hz sub crossover.

How should I wire my 3 subs to the 500/1 amp???????

First of all how many ohm's are each subwoofer rated at . Are the subwoofers dual voice coil or single voice coil. Once I know that I can help you. I think the JL amp is not recommended below a 2ohm load.
