You don't use the back stitch or reverse button during embroidery since you are stitching out a design and not using your utility stitches. If you missed some stitches and you want to re-stitch a portion of your design or what I think you mean by "back stitch", there is a button that either says reverse, back or shows stitches with a + and - so you can backup and go over the area you missed. It usually lets you back up a stitch at a time, 10 at a time and 100 at a time. I use it sometimes to get a thicker satin stitch if it looked too thin the first time. Just be careful not to go over it more than once as it might bunch up. They also show a button usually with a spool on it so you can back up an entire thread color. It will probably be in your manual under "what to do when the thread breaks" or something similar. Happy embroidering!

Why is the fabric feeder pushing the fabric toward me instead of awayfrom me?

It is sewing in reverse. Shut down, restart the machine. If this doesn't help, press the backstitch button, and see if it stuck. Try changing the stitch length dial.
If this is an electronic machine, it may need to be serviced. This happened to a embroidery machine I had, when I tried to sew straight stitching. It needed to be service as it was an electronic issue.

How did you do backstitch on a diagonal when you don't have a defiant hole to go into on Aida cloth for cross stitch

If i understand your question correctly, i go into the exact middle of the square (between the 4 holes) when the line i need to backstitch doesn't line up with holes. The way the fabric is woven it usually works pretty well, with there being an exact center.

Singer 4423 stuck on backstitch!

Is sewing machine set for buttonhole making? Sounds like it got "confused" in the process of a buttonhole revolution making a reverse stitch, and so you need to change adjustment settings top left, bottom right, remove extension table and turn feed dogs switch back left of machine to UP position.
Did this help?

Hello. I hope u can help me. I cannot get my stitching tight? If I pull the thread it comes right out. Thanks Jodie

You need to backstitch over the beginning and end of your stitching, Jodie. When you start out, manually turn the wheel to put the needle into the fabric. Push the foot pedal to stitch forward a little. Now, reverse over those stitches to nearly where you started stitching. Use the foot pedal to go forward again, stitch to where you want to end. Reverse again, just a 1/4 inch or so. Then take the fabric out and cut your stitching.

This backstitching keeps your thread from pulling straight out. You should always use it with straight stitches and general zigzag stitches. Don't use it with decorative or embroidery stitches, though, as it mars the appearance of them. But if you're doing any type of topstitching that uses straight stitches, backstitch in the area that will be in the seam allowance, ever so slightly, or your top stitching will pull out, too.

Hope that helps!

My bobbin thread keeps coming to the top of my fabric during embroidering on my Singer Futura CE350, I've tried bobbin embroidery thread, regular embroidery thread and clear nylon thread, I've tried...

With the embroidering, some of the bobbin thread is SUPPOSED to show on the top of your embroidery-the machine isn't doing anything incorrectly. You'll need to thread your bobbin with the same thread as you are using with the top. I had the same "problem" when I first got the machine and took it to a wonderful local technician whose helped me with a lot of things who informed me that this is perfectly normal on embroidery machines.

Viking 190 sewing machine stuck on backstitch

Found the problem (s) with Viking stuck on backstitch!!!

Two problems:

A: machine is "gummed-up" form old grease.
Solution: degrease machine with a high quality degreaser.. I used a spray electrical degreaser from an automotive store. Turn the machine up-side-down to preform this!
Then relubricate machine. Use a high quality sweing machine lubricant! Also lubricate the inner parts with a qigh quality "Sewing machine" oil.

B: Found that the return spring from foreward to backward was tired.
Soultion: Replace with slightly stronger spring from local hardware store.

If you need pictures, I took very detailed pictures of the reverse mechanism and "return to forward" spring.
