Check your lid switch first. The older models have a mechanical switch. Using a screw driver you can push the swtich in and out. You should normally hear a clicking sound if it is good or you can use an ohm meter to check it for continuity. Sometimes something will get hung in the switch causing it not to operate.

The newer models have a magnetic lid switch that you will have to check with an ohm meter.

As these units are fully electronic i would say there is a fault in the p.c.b control bord if it were not electronics drum drive i would say its a belt but because it spun with lid open (bypassing the safe shut off) id say the p.c.b is playing up

Simpson washing machine 7.5kg 22s750m

Have the lid lock adjusted and always check that the bowl load is balanced. What you have is the machine is reading the lid as open and the spin will not occur until the lid lock reads closed.

Kenmore Series 70 washer keeps spinning when you open the lid, is this the correct operation? Also, the washer is always moving around when in the spinning cycle, is something worn out or what?

If the machine keeps spinning if the lid is open then the lid switch has failed. This is the safety device that prevents injury from people reaching in and getting hurt when the machine is in operation.

Wont spin an has water in it?

It is likely the closed lid switch. The lid safety switch keeps the washer from spinning without the lid shut. There are too many variables involved to get into the details of how to open your top, depends on make and model. An internet search on Washing Machine Lid Safety Switch will yield a ton of info. Good luck, pa

Whirlpol top loader does not spin all the time

Since you did not mention the age of this unit I am assuming that it has been in service for some time. My first thought is that you have an intermittent lid switch. You can test this yourself by setting the timer on spin and then open and close the lid at aout 10 second intervals making sure the tub spins and stops. It should spin lid closed and stop lid open each time. If it does not spin each time then you have a lid switch problem. If it does spin each time then I suspect that your spin tube clitch pads are getting worn. You cna remove the back panel cover and watch this again with the timer in spin. Keep you hands out of the inside rear of the maching and look When the lid is closed the spin tube should be lowering slightly onto the drive plate. If it appears to be slipping quite a bit then the 3 pads are worn out and the spin tube will have to be replaced. On other thing to note is there are 2 solenoids on a post on the top of the transmission. On the one controls the spin cycle you should see the actuator lift and fall as you have some one open or close the lid in the spin cycle. If the actuator is lifting and the spin tube clutch pads are dropping onto the clutch plate then again the 3 clutch pads have worn out. I hope this was of some help in answering your question.

Washer does not spin and drain

It's most likely that the lid switch which is either loose or faulty. The lid switch keeps the tub from spinning when the lid is up or the door is open -- it's a safety feature.

Whirlpool LSR8444 washer, timer works but no spin or aggitation

Your problem is a broken drive coupling between the motor and transmission. Replace the drive coupling.

Water enters and washes but no spin

check to see if lid switch is not activated or is broken, or more correctly open. You can test by inserting jumper in place of switch. If unit spins, switch is bad or missaligned. Most time I find the little plastic peice that in on the lid is broken off and there the switch is not pushed down when the lid is closed.

I idea behind the switch is to keep you from sticking your hands in a spinning washer.
