I have the 13" durabrand and i don't have the remote for it, but the tv has the standard RCA inputs on the front. when i plug a vcr or dvd player into it i can't figure out how to get it to switch to AUX to view the player! I can't find a menu option to switch to aux anywhere
do i NEED a remote to do this? will a universal remote work?

I was given a dwt1905 tv for my kids without a remote so they would have a tv for there dvd player and games plus cable comes to find out I was not able to control anything I listed above with my cable remote because there is no codes you have to buy the remote from the company I called 3# before I was able to find out anything about a remote the contacted # is 1-800-242-7158 and the cost was 19.99 for a new remote that is the only way you will be able to work the tv with dvd player, game systems and cable I hope this helps........ good luck

Connect the composite video RCA (yellow) cable output of the DVD player to the TV's video input RCA (yellow jack). Connect the red and white RCA cable from the DVD players audio output to the TV's audio input (red and white jacks). Select the source input from the TV's control panel - if it has an input selector switch, set it to select the video source from the front panel input jacks if you connected the three cables - yellow, red and white on the front of the set. Or, change the channel to receive the video auxiliary input source instead of the broadcast station.
If you have a VCR with RCA inputs and coax (cable) output to TV, try plugging the DVD players RCA outputs (L/R audio, composite video) to VCR RCA inputs. Then select the DVD input on the VCR and it shoud play just as a the VCR does. If you don't have a VCR, an RF modulator might be needed, but a VCR would probably be cheaper.
DOES YOUR TV HAVE AUX RCA INPUTS OR JUST A STANDARD ANTENNA CONNECTION. CAN U ACCESS CHANNEL 3 OR 4 ON THE TV..HOW DO U ACCESS UR VIDEO INPUTS. A POSSIBLE SOLUTION IS TO GET A MULTI INPUT SIGNAL SELECTOR FROM RADIO SHACK THAT WILL TAKE THE RCA AND CONVERT TO STANDARD ANTENNA CONNECTION TO PLUG INTO THE PORT
If it is a durabrand dwt1304, you cannot switch the input to EXTERNAL (the front jacks) without a remote. There is a good one at Radio Shack for eight bucks, the 3-in-1 remote. The program code is 0171, and you switch the TV inputs with the A/B button.
Does your TV have more than one A-V input ?
If so perhaps you're plugged into the wrong input.
Make sure you're coming out an output on your VCR/DVD player and going into an input A-V plug on your TV.
I've messed up like this a few times!
You will need the original remote control I,m afraid. The original remote is the Durabrand HYF-23A. On the original remote, incase you do have one, is a button marked TV/AV. That is the button that changes between the TV and the Audio/video inputs. An original replacement remote can be purchaed HERE:
