Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a Velodune HGS12BG. The amp is going out. A local repair shop wants basically the cost of a new sub to "re-work" the amp. Can I buy a replacement amp for it?

Mower hit rock won t start

I have the same issue, my wife hit a rock and now the mower will start for a second then quits. sucks because its brand new. I checked the oil, the gas, the spark plug, the shaft is o.k., even took it apart to check the flywheel shear pin and that's o.k. called the local mower shop and was told to go get another one! basically, the damage is internal and would cost more to fix than replace. this is done purposely by the manufactures. they don't make any money if you buy a $1.00 shear pin, new engine is much more profitable. this is coming form the repair shop.

Wheel bearing replacement

Mike--- hold on-- you never go to a dealer except
to buy a new car,warrantee work &
parts, then only if parts are dealer only

How many trips to a dealer, before you realize your 50%
more expensive, for the same work the local repair shop
does.

If you go to Rock Auto.Com you can look up a Wheel Hub
Brg Assy Something like $150.00 I did both sides on my
Lincoln LS, when one failed

A dealer,who knows That could be a $1000.00 job

A local tire shop or repair shop,$200 for hub & $200 labor
just a guess

I would suggest you do your own
Only have one axle nut & 4 bolts holding it on

Need a handy relative with some experience & tools
or a neighbor

The foam surround on my subs are cracked and torn. I need them repaired. Would it be more ideal to buy new subs or get these w7's repaired?

wow i won't throw them away or anything like that. You can always go down to your local JL Audio dealer to see how much to refoam the subs. Lot cheaper then buy new ones..... That's the way i would go.. Hope this was helpfull

I need a new power amp for a JBL PB12 Subwoofer

Alf, when there is no parts available you have to start looking at local non authorized repair shops that will inspect and repair the board instead of trying to source a replacement board.

This can be very difficult and could make for alot of expensive deposits. Running out of parts is an ongoing problem with all electronics and sometimes replacement is the most cost effective option.

Cheers,

Kevin

JBL PB10 subwoofer sounds distorted and lights on the front flash

More likely to be the Class D power amp module, but you should look through the service manual to make sure all the parts are installed correctly. My PB10 AMP module went out and you cannot get one anymore.

Blown Amp AC?

Unfortunately, these older systems lose value rapidly and the cost of repairing problems like this can end up being as much as buying another system! Actually, you might be surprised to learn that JVC Service still sells many accessories and components from older systems. You can buy this sub woofer for less than $100, which should easily beat any repair cost you'll face. It may even come with the satellite speakers. The part number is VSDT2000R-SPBOX .

NOTE: JVC Service has a free shipping coupon going on right now, so you'd want to use that: DZYZXFX49GYZZ81

Also remember that there's a standard connection between the head unit and OEM sub woofer, so you're free to use a non-JVC unit. I would try to find one with a comparable power rating. Of course, the only drawback is that it won't blend in with the unit... but then, the sub woofer is usually tucked away out of sight.

Amp sucks sub in

The amp probably has shorted output transistors. The damage may include several surface mount components also. The output transistors are soldered to the mehsa insulator and are more difficult to change than those in other amplifiers. If you want to learn to do repairs, it may be worth the cost and effort to try to repair it. The parts are relatively inexpensive (average less than $15 - not including shipping). The tools to repair it are going to cost ~$35-50.

If you simply want the amp repaired, take it to a local repair shop.

Don't bother with a repair dude it is not a cost efficient solution for you. Buy another and be more care full with you preamp or source volume going in iam surprised it isnt the sub amp that is fried.

Help! Amp not turning on

Im sorry to have to inform you my friend, if you saw smoke, you burned one or more of the resistors or output devices inside the amp. Without a service manual, it will be a hard call on what exactly cooked. In alot of cases please forgive me for saying so, but the ampis not worth taking into a repair shop to be repaired, because of the high cost these days of labor. Its too bad there are no user replacable parts inside of these amps. Good Luck. Ps Please do not forget to rate this thread?
