Question about Xerox Phaser 8550DP Printer

Printer all of a sudden stopped printing, (LED screen out so unable to read errors). Everything was working fine and then it just stopped printing any more jobs, the red light was on the control panel and I noticed upon regular inspections, opening and closing every door that there was no heat coming from the drum area like usual. Here is how I found and fixed the problem.

    Generally these printers are pretty good workhorses but when they have a problem, pound your head against the wall. Luckily as time goes by and they get older service documentation is showing up online (previously unavailble).

    For quite some time now, not sure when it started, could have been before or after a firmware update colors started printing darker and smearing as if a few ink jets or whatever you call them are blocked, tests and stoping the troubled ones from printing never solved the problem but it doesn't stop the printer from working as far as printing letters and contracts goes, just flyers and images are kinda messed up. Forget about color matching or even getting close!

    Anyway the LED screen lights up but has no readout, it intermittently works and is clear, sometimes it reads upside down, not sure what causes that.

    Now yesterday out of the blue the printer just stopped working, the heating element seems to have cooled off and isn't heating up now either. Usually you can smell the ink and feel the heat when you open the top front panel coming from the drum area but not so now. I tried to cycle the power several times, left it off overnight and so on. Today I entered diagnostic mode because by some miracle I was leaning on the top right of the printer and the display lit up and began working! Spooky... Anyway I am able to see a trouble code so I went to the internet and googled looking for an error code list, found it and it has something to do with yellow ink feed or melt error. The code is 09,037.45:57184 unfortunately there is no instruction on what to do next so I began playing in the diagnosis screen trying to find something that would test the heating element and... somewhere along the way between the characters looking like hyrogliphics or reading upside down I can see that if you play with the buttons for the ? to the back buttons or entering diagnostic mode you can play with it enough to semi get the display to work. What a pain in the... anyway somewhere along the line the display stopped working again putting the kabosh on diagnosing anything. It's going to be a long 4th of july weekend when I have to wait to order a control panel. I see someone said xerox will replace it free. I hope so because the local service guy wanted to charge me a small fortune for it.

    Note after much frustration and on the verge of taking the machine apart myself, well partially,then putting the few pieces back (not wanting to get in too deep). After reading the maintenance and tech manuals I turned the printer on its back took a screwdriver and tried to let all the ink blocks fall back as if I were trying to remove the ink. Then I dug in a little deeper looking for broken and jammed blocks of ink. I didn't really find any but the melted pieces which were on the heating element and of course worn down as then do normally during use. I don't know maybe one of them worn at an angle or something but once I set the ink back and closed the top and started this puppy back up I saw on my browser CertreWare IS interface that the printer wan no longer showing an error and is now warming up. Something it was not doing before. All this due to a stuck piece of ink!

    I wonder how much the shop tech would have charged for sticking a screw driver in there?
    Having a tech background myself, I totally understand why though. It's not whether you are able to stick a screwdriver in the machine or not, it's knowing where to stick it. I understand this but am a persistant bugger and just prefer doing it myself when able. (Being broke does make for a good motivator as well.) And that's my story!

The inverted, blank, or garbled display is pretty common, a new control panel will fix that and is super easy to install and no tools required. Here is a video that shows how.">

Sounds like there is a sheet of paper jammed in it. Try taking off the roller access panel in the back (not the access panel by the cartridges). Make sure to only use clean sheets with proper humidity level to avoid jams. Also fan the sheets before feeding to disperse any static.

Our card printer has suddenly stopped working. It turns on fine, but it won't pick up the cards anymore and when I try to print it reads "error". I'm wondering if it is no longer compatible...


What kind of printer is this? I've experienced the same problem with a couple different models, and every time it has been the result of bad rollers. If they're unable to pick up the cards, then you will see an error.

Color ink cartridge


Well due to some problem in cartridge you would be facing this problem.however you can do try this.

Please clean your cartridge once again with some spirit.

Fix it well in the printer afterward.

Than use normal paper and print in color.

If than also it does not work that means the bar-code of the cartridge has problem in it so the printer is unable to read that code, so for that you need to change the whole cartridge.

Or if your printer had valid in warranty period and it still in that period just give it to a service center.

I have a Idea for you to try.... I know you may of tried this already? Do you have a lap top? If so, try to print to the copier with a cross over cable.... Basicly emulate a network with your lap top. If it prints fine, even after the five minutes. It has to be some thing with there network. The problem is, that the "IT" person will not admit to any wrong doing, because they made a error to fix another problem with the network. I am not a network person, but if the coiper is working "OK" and you can print to it "OK". It can only be with the network only... Good Luck

Error 30


I have the MFC 465CN - I was receiving two error codes:
Unable To Clean - Error 30
Unable to initialize

To fix, I first cleared the memory by unplugging the printer, then holding down the red stop/exit button, keep it held, power up the printer, and dont let up the button until it finishes the start up.

I then pressed the "ink" button and performed a cleaning, alignment, and quality check. After this, everything worked fine.

DO NOT try to print anything from your computer or have any pending print jobs while doing this - it appears that pending print jobs, or anything in the printers memory was interferring with the initilization and cleaning cycle it performs.

Canon mp210 problems print spooler error


Hi wolst, try updating your printer drivers:

Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop. Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done

1. Turn off the printer. And disconnect the printer cable.
2. Press and hold the POWER button, turn on the printer.
3. The indicator (L.E.D.) should be green.
4. Press and release the RESUME button , the indicator (L.E.D.)
should be orange.
5. Press and release the RESUME button again, the indicator
(L.E.D.) should be green
6. Release both buttons

HP 7260 works fine with e-mails and documents. Does not print internet pages.


This sounds like an issue with your web browser. Which web browser are you using? Do you get any error message when you print? Also, when you print, make sure it is printing to the printer you think you have set up. The web browser will allow you to print to a different printer, then remember those settings.
