My inspiron 1525 won't boot, the scroll light and caps lock blink

Remove 1 stick of ram and turn on, if no! take out the second one and put back the first, and power on, if okay you know the 1 stick is bad. Remove main battery and power on, "long shot" if no change chances are it is a motherboard issue.

The RAM may need reseating or the RAM module/s may be faulty.
If the notebook has two RAM modules installed, remove them and insert one RAM module then see if the computer boots up, then repeat with the other RAM module.
Try and use RAM modules with the same make ans size.

Please provide everything on the sticker of the memory. When you bought the RAM, was it a pair or did you buy individual sticks? Your system can only support a maximum of 2 GB of PC5300 DDR2 RAM, split over two 1 GB sticks of RAM per slot. If you have tried exceeding this, it will not work, and even if it were to, it would eventually cause irreparable damage to your system.

I have a Dell Inspiron e1505 laptop that just won't come on.

hi, your laptop led`s are also there for diagnostic purposes, if the caps lock and scroll lock (the one on right of caps) are flashing before going off, it means your system is not detecting the RAM so either your ram has failed or the motherboard is faulty

This is a hardware failure code. You may be able to get help from dells site as to what error it is giving. Most of the time it is a major problem if it will not start. Hoever... Dells have issues with power supplies. It may just be a bad power brick. You will need to get the code from dell to find out however.

Inspiron 6400 doesn't start.

On Flash Flash indicates that no RAM memory is being detected. So remove both RAM modules, insert 1 at a 30 deg angle till the gold contacts cannot be seen, then lock it in place, and see if the RAM is detected. Test both modules in both slots, see if system will boot with at least one. If no change, try a new RAM module, if still no change, replace the motherboard
