Question about HP PSC 1610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Carriage Jam At first I was receiving an "Add Paper" message, but there was already paper in the tray.  This progressed to a persistent "Carriage Jam" error, but there is no obstruction to the carriage.  Upon troubleshooting and resetting the printer, the carriage consistently moves from left to right, loudly "jamming" itself into the left-hand side where there are 3 rubber pads which raise up underneath the carriage.  I'm assuming it is supposed to stop here awaiting the print command, but it doesn't.  I've tried adjusting these rubber pads to no avail.  Any other suggestions?  Thanks.  Curt

I had my printer for 2 years and must say that I have enjoyed it all this time. It has made the Best Photos of ANY printer I have EVER owned and with NO problems at all, UNTILL NOW. And I wake up one day recently and have the EXACT SAME trouble you have Discribed. I have found that I can stop the Slamming and Banging by Moving a Rubber Cartrige Holding Slide that is at the Far right end of the carrier. You have to turn of the Printer and open it up. Move the Cartrages to the LEFT (unsnapping them from that righthand ditch that they sit in for changing them out.) and then SLIDE the Rubber Thingy from the back FORWARD, then slide the Cartrages back to the RIght again "Snapping" them into starting position. It will lock them to that Rubber Carrier Pad Thingy. It seems to pad it and keeps it from banging like you speak of , at least while working with when trying to get the paper to load etc. At least it has for mine. However, i think it may have to be moved back out of the way once we ever get the printer to working again. If i ever find a fix for all of this, i will try to repost.Or If someone else can PLEASE HELP US? I sure hope to... for I really loved this printer. I sure do NOT want to have to buy another one.

You are lucky you can print ANYTHING! My unit has NEVER worked (3 years) due to a hardware defect of HP. I downloaded patches, cleaned/replaced cartridges, etc.
Spoke to HP last nite-Was told printer was junk-they don't carry it or any parts to fix it anymore!! I was told to replace it!
