I have a Whirlpool Heavy Duty Commercial Gas Dryer, Model #: GCGM2991LQ0. It is not allowing the gas to ignite the glow bar. The glow bar appears to be red hot, but nothing is happening. What am I missing?

Thank you for your knowledge and expertise! The Pictures with parts labeled were extremely helpful. And, it turns out that the solenoids were the problem, as well as the thermal fuse. Thank you, again, very much. Sincerely appreciate your help!

First, make sure the shut-off valve is open and there's gas being supplied. After these two are ensured and the glow bar glows red hot but still no gas is being ignited, replace both valve solenoid coils. The solenoid valves do not work simultaneously but rather in succession. No gas then will be ignited if one the valves do not work and both solenoid coils must be replaced.

Pull the lint trap out then remove the screws under it.

Pry the top cover as shown then raise it to the rear of the dryer.

Remove the screws attaching the front panel to the cabinet then lift and remove the panel. Replace the solenoid coils then reassemble the dryer in reverse order of the disassembly steps.

I have a Frigidaire gallery commercial heavy duty dryer model #GLGR331AS1 it just stopped heating turns on and runs but no heat. Could it be the solenoids or the igniter ?

If the igniter glows but it doesn't ignite, most of the time, it's the valve coils, most of the other times, it's the radiant sensor.

If the igniter doesn't glow, check your thermal fuse. If your thermal fuse is good, replace your igniter.

Good luck!

Whrilpool heavy duty dryer not drying, just replaces the ignitor

Im assuming that you have a gas dryer since you said you replaced the glow plug (igniter). So your problem is most likely with lint in the vent hose. Try taking it off and shaking out all the loose lint. If thats not it you could have a gas flow problem. Check your connections for leaks or crimps in and metal hosing.

Gas Dryer igniter glows but does not ignite

If the igniter goes on but only cycles off you have a bad solenoid coil on the valve you can pick them up as a set at a local parts supply shouldn't be more than $25

Dryer repair

There is no pilot. It is electronic ignition via a glow bar.
Remove the front panel. The glow bar and gas valve will be on the bottom right side.
What is your problem?

Whirlpool dryer not heating up

It does not have a pilot. It uses a glow bar ignition system. You probably have a bad glow bar if it is not heating at all part number 279311

Burner comes on for 30 secs or so and shuts off. Ignitor cycles

it sounds like the gas valve solenoids are shorting out. there are two coils that operate in tandem to allow gas flow. these coils can eventually overheat and cause the gas not to flow as well have a rattling sound from the plunger inside the coil trying to move inside the weakened coil. the coils can be replaced and will come in a pair with guide pins to help you put them in correctly. one coil will have three wires going to it and the other coil will have two wires going to it. pretty simple fix and should solve the problem
hope this helps....jay

Gas dryer with gas smell and no heat

It sounds like your GLOW BAR gas igniter is bad. This is an electric powered heater coil that , when it glows red hot, ignites the gas burner. This part normally fails at least once during a dryers normal service life. If you are handy, you may be able to replace the part yourself. Otherwise, have a technician look at it. If you want to DIY, go to an appliance parts store . Remove and observe the GLOW BAR from your gas dryer. If one of the metal element appears to be burned open, replacement is necessary.. Show the part, along with your dryer maker, model, and serial number, to the store employee. This person can give you helpful info along with a new part. If the GLOW BAR is NOT burned out, seek out a technician.

Whirlpool Gas Dryer

Yes, that is most likely the problem. Once the glow bar igniter glows so hot, the switch opens & drops power to the igniter.(The radiant sensor has continuity while cold & open when a flame is present.) At the same time, by opening it redirects power to the valve coils allowing them to open & gas flow to the burner assembly. The dying glow of the igniter fires the gas. However, if your igniter glows, the radiant sensor is good. In this case, you'd need to replace the gas valve solenoids.
