Question about Printers & Copiers

My printer doesn't want to print. I've owned this printer since 4/19/2002. I had no problems since then. Yesterday I had to print some documents, it came out some lines between the documents so I replaced the ink and maintained the printhead. Black ink has never showed on the printed pattern. This morning I tried again, I got another message which told me that device has not connected with computer and I have checked every wire they are allright. Please help and Thank you.

    Cable is fixed, printer can communicate with computer. But printer is still not printing the documents. I went to store bought new cartridge for Cannon Multipass F50. I put it in the print head and align the printhead. It still didn't have any black color line is over everywhere. What causes this problem?

How are you connected from the printer to the computer?
What you want to do is first go into the print driver and open the port properties. And be sure that the port settings are correct.
If you are connected via an ethernet cable. You need to be sure you IP address is correct and did not change on you.
If that happened you want to go into your printer and set up the address again, set it to manual, and re enter the proper IP address. And if there is an IP filter on the printer, make sure the setting is OFF.
Also try new cables, Something may have happened to one of them.

It appears that the printer is malfunctioning and will require service. I suggest contact its manufacturer to verify the warranty status of your printer, and have it replace by them. If the warranty is already expired, you can send the printer to the nearest service center for repair.

My Lexmark z2300 sends to the printer & it says it's printing, but it doesn't actually print. I've tried several file types & programs to print from but none of them work.


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

I've configured my desktop Brother HL2040 to share but I can't print from my laptop.


Make sure you've got the firewall set to allow printing on the computer working as a print server.

Another simple solution is to pick up an ethernet or wireless print server unit. It's going to cost more, but it's typically very reliable, and doesn't depend on another computer for printing.

Hi, I've got a 5500 designjet and when I print, after cutting paper, the printer reboot and after the initialization, the I/O card doesn't work. After that, I switch off than on and the problems...


It sounds like a bad JetDirect network interface card.
Turn the plotter off, remove the JetDirect card and see if it prints an internal test page without rebooting.
If it prints OK, turn off and reinstall the JetDirect card and see if it prints the same internal page OK.
If it prints OK both ways, you may have a bad Main PCA.

I've got a HP C4780 printer which I have had for around a year but only used about 5 or 6 times! Despite the ink cartridges having ink in them, the black cartridge is not printing at all. Not even a...


The ink solidifies right behind the micro printing nozzles. The only way to attempt to rectify this is to dip the print face into some warm (not hot) water for a minute or two, and dry after wards. If the cartridge recovers, Yippee, if it doesn't, replace.
Common problem. Be thankful it isn't a Canon or Epson, which entails replacing a seriously expensive 'print head'.

Does it print a test page from it's own menu? This will isolate whether the problem is internal or from the connection to PC.
If it prints internal page, then try reinstalling driver.
