Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I used my two Kodak s-av 2020 projectors with dissolve gear.after 2/3 years interval neither will change slides either way. Engaging the gearwheel by hand (normally driven by the solenoid) changes slides okay. Both projectors are affected.

A tough one! Are these S-AV Projectors or Ektapro Projectors? There are no parts or factory-trained repair dealers for S-AV in the U.S. anymore. If they are Ektapro, then you can contact Langie AudioVisual on West Commercial Street in East Rochester, NY. I believe they still have a part-time tech who can diagnose Ektapro problems. I'm sorry the news isn't better....

Dirt or dust accumulation can retard the gear mechanism. If you get Canned Air at WalMart, blow out all open areas and see if you can dislodge the material collected inside.

Kodak 760h autofocus does not function

Check with the dealer who is selling you the part, to see if they can provide you with the required pages for disassembly, repair & re-assembly from the Kodak Service Manual. You should be aware that in some cases when this repair is made, it requires the technician to re-calibrate the auto-focus system. To do that, you will need 2 special tools (a "Target Slide" and a "Range Slide"), that were manufactured by Kodak for use on the assembly line and by their authorized warranty repair dealers. You MAY need those, as well.
As you can imagine, all this can begin to get expensive (if you can still get the special tools).... It may be more economical to try to locate another used projector on the internet... Here are 2 dealers I can recommend: For parts & tools -
For used projectors -

Good Luck!! Jim

My kodak carousel auto focus 760 carousel does not move but the projector makes a noise when I press the buttons how can I get it to move

Your Carousel 760 Slide Projector is about 45 years old. One of the problems I have seen as Carousel Slide Projectors age is that the plastic parts in the projector get brittle and break. Given your description of the observed condition is that probably either the gear on the focus motor shaft or the gear it interfaces with (or both) that is broken. Given the age of the machine, parts will be tough to locate. Try:
for the best chance to locate those parts. Good Luck !! Jim

Kodak av 1050 slide projector with noisy fan motor

You can try a very small amount of a synthetic machine oil ( NOT WD-40!!!), but chances are if these machines have a bunch of hours on them the fan bearings (or the fan) will need to be replaced. The good news: you can contact for Ektapro (or most any Kodak Slide Projector part). They have an amazing inventory of parts for Kodak machines and great technical support! Good Luck !!

Kodak carousel 760 projecter with a Ektanar 4 in. f/ 2.8 lenses. After many years of storage it appears that the lenses has stuck in its' housing. The focusing knob is very firm to the touch. I did not...

I agree, the gears will strip if you force them!! The projection lens has a gear track on its outside, that mates with the focus gear in the projector. Usually when the lens won't move it is because the lens has been re-inserted into the projector without lining up the gear on the side of the lens and the projector lens drive gear. If you look at the front of the projector (where the projection lens is), you should be able to see if the 2 gears are lined up. If they are not lined up, pull the focus knob toward the outside of the projector (to make sure the gear is disengaged) and pull on the lens. If you are careful, you will be able to remove the lens without damaging either the lens or the projector. If in doubt (or if you don't want to risk it), please contact a Kodak factory-trained service dealer in your area.

I have a very old Kodak 760H slide projector. I

Based on your description & what I know about those projectors, I suspect the solenoid "link" has broken. The "link" connects the cycle solenoid with the slide change mechanism. Over time, this plastic "link" gets hard, brittle and cracks, rendering slide change non-functional. The good news is there are still parts around to fix your projector & get another 20 years out of it. You should contact a factory-trained repair dealer to affect the repairs. Good Luck !!

Kodak 650H projector - won't advance. Hadn't used several years. Set up and it worked, then started advancing without me pushing a button, then just stopped advancing. I hear a little click when I push...

The wire is probably from the circuit board or the motor. The location of the wire may vary depending on the age of the projector.

But the problem you have sound like a broken solenoid "Link". The "link" connects the cycle solenoid plunger to the cycle lever in the slide change mechanism. The "link" is made of plastic and over time gets brittle & cracks. Once this happens, you will hear the noise of the cycle solenoid engaging (click), but nothing will happen. The good news is parts are still available ( This is not an easy repair, and I would recommend contacting a factory-trained repair dealer.

Does a kodak slide projector hook up to a pc

No way! Kodak discontinued its slide projector line long before computer interface. The projectors are mechanical and analog. Maybe you can connect your remote control cord to some kind of computer interface. I know there are dissolve units available that will perform basic functions, but none that are PC-compatible as far as I know.
