Its the problem of internal power supply board.Due to power surge the internal circuit components have got short and stopped working. The circuit of the power supply board is not getting completed due to short component on the board. The board has to be checked with a meter to locate the faulty components. In some cases its just one or two minute ic components on the board gets short and replacement cost is very less but in some rare cases the power board needs replacement because cost of replacing component on board goes very much.
Also in some other cases it has been seen that power cables which goes into receiver gets loose or the cables gets short due to power Surge so the cables also needs to be checked for in-between short to clear the problem.
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

To whom it may concern,

You're likely either experiencing overheating or power cycling.
Put the receiver into a well circulated area, and let it cool down. If this does not alleviate your problem you will need a replacement box. Be sure to set up insurance for your account before you ask for a new box to be sent.

The protection circuitry has been activated 3 times consecutively and as a safety precaution, capability to turn on the power is disabled.

If there is no apparent cause for the protection mode activating (such as shorted speakers, burning smell, blown fuses, lighting strike or mains power surges), reset the protection as follows and see what happens.

Connect power cord to mains and wait 5 seconds or so. While holding down "info" and "tone control" buttons, press "main zone" power button briefly and release, but keep "info" and "tone control" buttons pressed for at least 3 more seconds. The unit should power up. Assuming the reason for the protection has passed or been fixed, the unit can now be turned off and then back on with the "main zone" power button to restore normal operation mode.
If the protector activates again, the fault is still present and the unit needs to be repaired, ideally by a Yamaha authorised repairer.
There are dangerous voltages present in high power amps and a lot of grunt in terms of stored energy - best left to trained technicians.

I'm trying to install an older model alpine cd player in my boat. When I attached the red wire without attaching the yellow wire I don't get power to the unit, when I attached the red and yellow...

The red wire will be for constant power and the yellow wire will be for your accessories power. If you dont have accessories you will have to hook it up as you have said. To power the unit off, there should be a power button in the top left area of the unit. Hold that button down for a few seconds and it should turn off.

I have a pioneer elite home theater and it's stuck in standby, i'm watching a movie then all the sudden (BOOM) everything turns off, and will not power back up.

Do you have a Home Theater Surge connected to it? If so, Turn the Surge unit off then back on, and your equipment should power back up. The surge will regain Main power but not enough to reset 110v just enough to keep your presets and settings. Hope that's the problem. If you don't have a surge, look on the front of the receiver for a secondary power switch that would be labeled "Main" etc. usually located below the standby or normal power switch. If it's not that, when you press the power button, does the unit "click" once, then two or three seconds later "click" again? That would be a chip, transformer, or IC chip and need to be serviced. If not that, post a reply with the model number and I can dig up some more info for you. Hope this helps

Stand-by light on, but receiver won't power up

Power supply problem. Most equipment today has remotes and the power supply has to remain on to sense the remotes signal.
But the actual receiver section does not get power until the remote says so or you hit the power on button on the unit. Internally the supply then feeds the device. Most likely cause is a power surge or storm.
See if the remote will power it up?
I presume this is still under warranty. If you don't have it plugged into a good surge supression outlet strip, Get one!
