Question about Whirlpool RBS275PD Electric Single Oven

1 Answer

Own a Whirlpool Built-In SIngle Electric Oven, one of the following models RDS245 (275, 305) but don't know which one, and probably does not matter. The problem is - Tried the cleaning cycle for this first time, following the simple directions in the Use & Care Guide, and after one hour into the cleaning cycle the control panel lights went out, the door is locked closed, and remains in this condition even after it cooled down and the power was turned off (circuit breaker closed) and then reset. Nothing works. The display on the control panel is not lit and pressing the various the sensor pads on the control panel does not result in any function operating. Operated the circuit breaker (off-on) and still nothing. I have a hunch the heat got to the controls and now they do not work at all. What could be the cause(s).

Well you may have blown a fuse in the control panel. If it gets too hot for the controls the fuse melts and kills power so that the controls won't be damaged. Own a Whirlpool Built-In SIngle Electric Oven, one - 35b1b39.jpg

The oven won't come on. It is a whirlpool electric single oven range

If the oven is getting power it's probably one or more of the thermal fuses. There is a thermal fuse in the wiring harness that feeds the control board. Accessible from the front. The other fuses are chassis mounted on the back or top.
