Ya I messed up and thought that I could fix the vacuum all on my own, but now I don't even know how to put it together. I have a Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless vacuum. Do you have a picture of how the machine...

That's why a highly recommend people take their vacuums to an authorized (by the manufacturer) store for repairs. I've seen quite a few come in with this problem. Some with broken parts from trying to get it apart. And most companies don't provide service manuals to the public. If they did, service technicians would lose work.
At this point you'd be better off taking it in to the shop and having the tech put it back together.
Also, always check your warranty information. These machines carry a 5 year warranty, but that is voided if the owner or an unauthorized tech takes it apart. I don't know if yours was still covered or not.

The switch on and off wont work so i took it off and it works but know iam having problems putting it back together the spring are the problem

Those springs are tricky to get back in. you can use the flat end of a screwdriver to hold them down and compress them. I would recomend taking it to a proffesional to get it put back together right before you break the plastic and cost yourself some big money.

I opened my dc17 dyson to clean teh motor. trying

I'm not sure about all the switches used in the vacuum, but I recently took some pictures of the power button assembly. The buttons in the picture below are (from left-to-right): Circuit Breaker, Brush Switch, Power Switch

The next picture shows how the plastic buttons that operate the brush and power switches should go together:

And finally, this is how the power button assembly reattaches:

I can't get the top lid off my dyson dc17. It's

You need to get a long handled t-15 driver or a t-15 bit and a bit holder and extension for a 1/4" drive socket set (12" or longer extension) to get this apart. There are only something like 6 pcs in there and once you get it apart, cleaning it is very easy. Here's a good website on how to take it apart and put it back together. I have done this and it makes a difference. Be sure to sanitize everything once you have it apart. Takes out any funky smells.

Reset button or Fuse on my Infinity?

Ok, I took it apart, cleared the clog out, and put it back together. It wouldn't switch to "carpet". Got no answer on my question. Took it apart again, only I went further. Took apart the bottom - brush out, all inside bottom parts out, cleaned all that part of vac. No clogs down there. Ran the carpet/bare floor switch back and forth several times while I had it apart. Put it all back together and it worked fine. Still didn't find a fuse or reset button...

I take apart and clean my DC17 every 2 weeks. When I put it back together it always works perfect. This last time, I noticed that the self propel is not working...am I missing something? I took it apart to...

The roller is not spinning do to motor or belt not working. If it is the motor then the machine will have to go back to dyson if it is the belt then that is an easy replacement.
