Replace the hose and regulator if this is an LP grill...... or just the regulator if this is a NG grill.

Burners seem to have less heat. Very small flames

Hello Carol, here are some simple troubleshooting tips to help resolve this issue:

First, make sure that burner caps are properly installed and are on the correct burner. Similar sized caps can mistakenly be placed on the wrong burner.

Moisture can clog the ports after cleaning. Lightly fan the flame to remove moisture. Allow the burner to operate until moisture is gone and the flame is full.

On some surface burner designs there are different size ports that produce flames of different lengths. This is normal.

Lastly, the burner ports may be clogged. With the burner turned off, it is recommended for a professional to use a small-gauge wire or a needle to clean the ports.

If the range continues to experience the same issue, it could possibly have a defective power supply, gas supply, or clogged ports. I would suggest contacting a professional to accurately diagnose and repair the appliance.

How to Troubleshoot a Gas Range Oven That Won't Heat
By Kefa Olang, eHow Contributor
Although gas range oven may prove useful for cooking and baking, they may fail to ignite if they aren't properly maintained and set up. Lighting a gas range often involves simply turning a knob; however, blockages from food particles and debris caught in the burners, improper burner cap installation and gas supply are common problems that interfere with your gas range oven's performance. A few troubleshooting guidelines may solve these problems safely.

Instructions
    • 1
Check you have gas in your tank if your gas range oven won't heat. Contact your gas supplier if you've run out of gas.

    • 2
Clean the burners if you have gas but your burners still won't ignite. To clean the burners, lift the burner caps 9b4f010f-be4f-4db6-8a88-4c3fd17e3339.gif
    • 3
Inspect the small vertical holes on the side of your burners for dirt, food and debris. The gas won't ignite if they are clogged. Scrape dirt, debris and food from the vertical holes using a pointy object such as a toothpick or paperclip.

    • 4
Reinstall the burner caps properly. If they are tilted or wobbly, the gas may not ignite. Install the caps on the right burners. Some burners are smaller than others, so match the caps to the appropriate burners.

    • 5
Move the burner knob to the "Lite" position and wait for the gas to ignite. If it ignites, rotate the knob to your desired setting. If it doesn't ignite, contact a qualified appliance technician.

Deep fryer catching on fire

From the video it appears many things could be wrong. The baffles and burner tubes could be clogged, the burner itself can be clogged, the flue is blocked, or this unit is using the wrong type of gas, ie: propane on a natural gas fryer.
Recommended steps for troubleshooting.
1. Verify proper gas type. Natural or Propane.
2. Check Burners, tubes, and baffles, clean all soot and debris from them.
3. Check for and remove any obstructions from the flue.

The pilot light on the oven is on how ever the burner will not come on when the oven is turned up.

Hello,
Their is 2 possible things that are causing the oven to not heat.

1) the pilot burner is clogged with build up and not burning corretly...the standing pitol light is small and when the oven is turned on the pilot enlarges and heats a small bulb connected to a tube on a gas valve,if the pilot burner is clogged it will burn the small pilot but will not enlarge to heat that bulb so the gas will flow to the main burner. If that is whats happening the pilot burner needs to be replaced.

2) the pilot burner is properly heating the bulb connected to the above mentioned gas valve but that gas valve is bad and not opening once the pilot has heated the bulb..so in that case that gas valve would need to be replaced

Viking gas grill - when I turn the knobs to lite up one of the burners, it rushes out the gas with a loud hessing sound. also there are flame coming out from where the gas comes out and goes into the...

What you have described sounds like a clogged burner as well as the venturi valve on the burner. Your will need to remove the burner to clean it and the venturi valve on the open end of the burner, that goes over the burner orifice. Spiders like to build nest in them and clog them up. The venturi valve will look like two slots, cut in to each side of the burner, at the open end. It's function is to mix air with the gas, for proper combustion.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

I have had a Kenmore Outdoor Gas Smoker for several years and it's worked fine, but this year started leaving a coating of soot on the food, and the flame is mostly yellow. The User Guide suggested...

Ben, the burner holes were a good start. If you removed the burners to clean them. If not, it left a lot of debris inside the burners. Also, the Venturi valves may be clogged (Spiders love them) which would affect the air to gas ratio, Which would mean the burners weren't/aren't burning cleanly. If you didn't remove the burners, that's what you need to do, before anything else.

Hope this helps you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling.

Just got the bbq yesterday - the 2 burners on the left ignite and burn normally. The third burner on the right won't ignite either manually or with igniter...you can hardly hear the gas coming out.

It may be a case, that the burner orifice for that burner is clogged with shipping debris or something similar. Remove the third burner and inspect the orifice for foreign debris. Also, check the venturi valve on the end of the burner for clogs. Onward Manufacturing, the company that makes Broil King grills is a good company and stands by their product. Sounds like the offending burners need to be removed, checked thoroughly for clogs and particularly the venturi valve on each burner. And while you have them out, remove the burner orifice of each burner and look for clogs.

Hope this helps you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling!!

I strongly suggest your gas man check the main line and connections as a tech should have been present during install AND testing. This is what they would look for. Test pressure at gas outlet. Test pilots (if any), Test ignition, and heating (noting the flame color and shape), Does unit come to temp as set on dial(s). Your seller/vendor may not be qualified the check these settings. Gas utility company HAS tools. worth it to have things checked properly like the main valve, regulator, safety shut off, leaking hose, fittings, clogged fittings (bits of plumbers putty or teflon tape, etc.)
