Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems to be the Thermal fuse that has gone bad. The thermal fuse is mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. When this fuse goes bad it should be replaced as it cannot be repaired. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Fixing dryer. The start button won't "say on"the dryer turns on, but the start switch doesn't stay on, and has to be held/pushed for Speed Queen AGM479W2 the dryer to work.

well why didn't they come back and fix it?check the wires going to the motor or the switch in the motor is bad, basically you have to replace the can go here this guy really drags this video out but it can show you what's happening to your dryer.i know on ge dryers if this happens it's the belt switch that's bad and on the older whirlpool dryers it was usually a bad relay or a bad even heat board but you don't have any of these in your amana dryer,it might say speed queen but it's an amana when you look up the model number,i don't know if by shorting out the dryer it could have damaged the motor,i would call whoever worked on it and tell them it ran fine until they worked on it you never had this issue

Start switch hums but will not start dryer

The most common cause of the problem you describe is a broken drive belt. This doesn't mean it is the only possibility, nor that it is the issue you are seeing, but based on your short description, this could be the drive belt. If you are mechanically inclined, you can replace it yourself, but if not, then contact your local appliance repair company to diagnose and replace whatever part needs it. If you open the back panel and see that the drive belt is broken, then this could be an easy fix. Here is a link to the drive belt that fits your dryer:

My Speed Queen dumble dryer smell like burning wire

HI....Does the MOTOR works or rotates. If it still heres no problem with that...if you smell something bad on your machine there something wrong with the motor wires coil..possibly overloading can cause problem with the motor..motor will produce more power beyond its capacity then its coil becomes hotter that gradually burnt the coil. You can check by removing the back cover of the machine.Unscrew it properly.locate the motor as well as the shafting..If yuo smell something bad with the motor possibly coils got burnt. you can check both ends of the motor terminals using a MULTITESTER .Unplug first the machine set the MULTITESTER to OHMS to the lowest value ..Now if moves a little means there is no short circuit happened but if it does the moves its maximum value then it has been shpt circuited. The armature coils might been short circuited

Dryer stops running shortly into cycle. When button is pushed to restart, dryer groans. Holding button may get the unit going again - but it makes noise running and stops again soon. Bad motor? Bad...

Sounds like start winding switch. I would replace whole motor assembly. Try on ebay for a used one that looks newer. Used motors will save you some serious money.

I have a Speed Queen dryer that just stopped last night. There appears to be no power getting to the unit--dryer does not start, light does not come on, timer does not advance--yet the circuit breaker...

Is there power at the dryer receptacle? Is the dryer wired directly or does wire from electrical breaker go to a receptacle first? Have it checked with a meter. If unit is wired directly have it changed to a receptacle and cord. Make sure there is power at the connections on the dryer. If everything is okay, then it is a dryer problem

Dyrer won't heat...

I can not find a diagram using your model number.
However, most Speed Quenn dryers have 2 screws on the bottom right and left sides of the front panel.
Unplug the dryer.
Remove the 2 screws.
Lift the panel forward and disconnect the door switch wires.
Reemove the belt and drum to access the heater circuit.
