Hello joeboo123,
The fact that you had the foresight to ask the question leads me to believe you can do it.Your question was is it easy. Well, its one of those things that is easy to anyone who has done it before. My suggestion would be to order the drum/developer cartridge, instructions are enclosed. This device was designed to be to a large extent consumer serviceable, and the drum is one of the items. I have to admit it is more difficult than Canon seems to believe it is. However, if you take your time, you can do it. The drum unit is to a large degree protected from mild probing. So you can fart around a little as you try and as long as you dont force anything you will be ok. In my opinion you ,at a minimum will be able to purchase the drum without having to pay a 3rd party. And in the event you find that you can't install the drum or just plain feel uncomfortable, you can always call in the calvary. At least you will have purchased the drum without paying the copier dude (I AM ONE LOL ) and his company the additional mark-up on the item. Again, it is awkward to install the first time. Just take your time. When it falls into place you will grin like a set of high beams. I have been working on copiers for over 20 years, which means nothing. I mite have left a trail of disaster for 20 years for all you know. But I am being honest that I believe you can do it. Take care and good luck. ............spinal...

How do I change the drum to a Canon NP 7130 Black and White copier?

Could be the drum or the fuser causing your problem. To replace drum you need to open the machine by hitting the gray release latch on eft ide of machine to clamshell it open. Inside you will see th toner cartridge/ dv unit on the far right and immediately to the eft of that is the drum unit. You need to release the dv unit by turning a lever before removing the drum unit. Should probably call a tech to do this for you so you dont scratch or damage the drum. Drum life on that model is about 30,000 prints. Whats the meter reading on that copier?

Canon 7130 black and white copier. It looks like it is scanning but blank pages come out. I changed the toner and nothing. There are no alarms. also can this machine still be bought?

**** open the copier to see if the developer has fallen away from the drum unit or is the tab below where the toner is put in out of place. Sometimes, if out of place, when the copier closed shut the arm is moved to the right side of the post ( located on the lower half of the copier ) and move the developer away from the drum unit and produces light copiers or even blank copies.

Gray background, but copied text is visible

With toner being dropped I would take a close look at the cleaning unit next to the drum. Sometimes they become clogged or wear out. Inside the machine, can you see toner that has spilled or piled up? If so that is an indication of a faulty cleaning unit.
