Question about Heating & Cooling

I have a heil 5000 high effiency model ac unit. Does my unit have to match the coils in the furnace? Or can the btu's be the same as my old unit and have it work fine with the coils inside?

Have to match coils. The new one probably uses R22, or A400

Iinstall a new 2.5 ton condenser unit, cooling coil and a 90,000 btu furnace in my condo. I have charged the system with R410 Refrigerant. The unit is not getting as cold as I suspected. Is there...

first, obtaining the correct charge is rather tricky .. it depends on inside and outside temperatures and humidity .. you need gages to measure both high side and low side pressures accurately and match those figures up to a chart that considers inside/outside temp and humidity ... in a new install you can calculate the required charge based on numbers given by the manufacturer modified by the length of connecting pipe set ... before charging, the system had to be vacuum pumped for an hour or more (unless the system came precharged) .. all vents in the house should remain open for air conditioning and the furnace blower speed chosen for a specific temperature drop across the cooling coil .. some AC repair people dont know how to do all that properly .. it takes a true professional to optimize the system .. if you can find someone that really knows how to do this then you might try to bargain for a good price for him to just trim you system ..

Hi,
It looks like you have a 60,000 BTU unit or a 5 ton unit...12,000 BTU/ton is how you figure that...
The 60 in the model number indicates the nominal btu's of the unit... the exact output could be a bit more or less depending on the air handler...

Ruud Furnace needs replacement

What part of the country?
How many square feet in the house?
Insulation?
Single pane glass?
Many factors should be considered by a professional.
However if the old unit worked OK, a new 80% 70,000 unit will most likeley replace a 24 year old 60-70% 75,000 unit.
