Question about GE 24 in. GSD2220Z Built-in Dishwasher
Model # GSD1200T63 there is no air gap. With each change in cycle to drain, there is about 2 ounces of water leaking down the back side of the drain solenoid.
The leak does not seem to come from the drain pipe connection. Can the leak be in the drain solenoid?
This dishwasher was installed in Noember 1994. If this is not a major problem to fix, I would like to repair it myself; that is, if you can provide me with a few instructions. Thank you..
It is possible that the plastic has developed a crack at the end of the threaded section
if you are handy with tools , turn the water off and remove that assembly( turn the power off at the plug)
check with a service agent spares department first as that part may not be available because of the age

SOURCE: dishwasher drain solenoid
Snoopy, first of all you did a good thing when you ordered the timer. I have got stung on this model by just changing the solenoid. The fact is the timer is stalling and sending too much voltage to the solenoid and burning it up. Just order the new solenoid and install it. The solenoid is a AC circuit so it doesn't matter which way the harness is on, you should be just fine with the new timer..Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: Leak from dishwasher
I currently had the same problem with mine and the culprit was the boot that screws on to the spray arm which serves as the seal from the spray arm to the motor. To find out spin the base of the spray arm loose and take off the screw tightened clamp that holds the boot to the motor. Mine had dry rotted and leaked very badly. The part as only about $10. Hope this helps

If your dishwasher leaks, check these:Main tub seal
Door gasket or seal
Main tub seal
Note… If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom of the dishwasher, the following instructions probably apply to you. But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the entire pump and motor assembly.
The main tub seal is beneath the drain impeller. It prevents the water in the dishwasher from leaking out near the shaft of the motor. To get to the seal, which is inside the dishwasher, remove the:
1. Lower rack
2. Spray arm
3. Spray arm support
4. Wash/drain impellers
Then pry the seal out of its housing and replace it.
Door gasket or seal
Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.
The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the rubber tube leading from the valve to the inside of the dishwasher may leak. Tighten or repair/replace these as necessary.
The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open. When that happens, the water continues to flow into the dishwasher, which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher, and replace the valve.
Behind the lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastic hoses. If the leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If that doesn't work, replace the hose.
thanks for using FixYa
