No, it is _not_ "jumper" settings. The new style of disk-drives ('SATA') do not have any jumpers.

Take the computer to a qualified technician, and have them remove the hard-drive, connect it to one of their computers, and test it, to see if it still is working.

WINDOWS SET UP FAILS TO LOCATE THE HARD DRIVE ACESS SEEMS TO BE DENIED

Mabee the hard drive has failed . try entering bios and see if the hard drive is recognised .If not try turning the computer off unplug it then reconnect the drive data cable and power cable
then re- start the computer and see if it is recognised. some models of older hard drives needed a driver installed during set up -- you usually have to put the driver on a floppy disc and hit the f6 button when prompted by windows set up to install third party drivers . I hope this helps

I have a Samsung SP2514N (250GB/7200rpm/8M/PATA) drive that I am trying to use as a USB drive on my laptop with Vista on it. The device manager shows that there is a drive there, but that is all. It does...

If your using an external drive case, the jumper pins should be set at "single". If that doesn't work you can try moving the jumper till the drive shows up, or use no jumper at all. If it still doesn't work after trying all jumper positions or no jumper then the drive could be bad. Make sure to power off the drive before changing the jumper.

if so make one a slave, there is a jumper on the back of the hard drive,

I have a m2n61-ax dell board,I install a second dvd rewrite lg window will not see the drive????

Hi,

if These Are IDE devices, ensure That The Jumpers Are Set To Slave And Master. If The Device still Is Not Recognised, Try Putting It On The Secondary IDE Channel, with A seperate Cable. Or Add it to The Hard-Drived Cable. If The Hard-Disk Is Jumper-Set as Slave, Move Jumper-Pin ( Small Plastic Block ) on the rear Of The Drive To Master.

Windows 2000 advanced Server does not support Seagate 250 GB Hard Drive.

I am inclined to think that this would be a problem with the jumper settings limiting the size of the drive.
I can't offer anything more than that, sorry. Hope it will help a bit.

Hard driver (seagate)

hi,

is it a sata or ide (pata) drive? does the bios recognise it yet? if it does then you know you have a software problem which could mean you may just need to partition or format the drive.

if the bios can't even see it then you will need to change the jumper settings on the harddrive to make it compatible with your mother board.

good luck
