Take the printer back to from where you purchased it, and get them to demonstrate that it works correctly, or get them to replace it under warranty.

Printed pages are smeared with black

Sounds like a bad toner, or possibly the scanner is dirty. If you look where it pulls the paper through it can have a small speck, but since its on the scanner tself it will put black lines all the way down the paper.
If its larger and smeared the Toner itself is probably bad and you need a new Toner Kit, should come with new rollers and a new cartridge as well.

Black cartridge is not working and blinking

Black printer ink in HP Printer may fail to be recognized by the printer. Most times an error message will be sent indicating that something is wrong with the black print cartridge. Sometimes the printer may accept to print with the black ink, but the printouts may have horizontal lines and very illegible letters. In such a case a manual cleaning of the print head should be carried out. In doing the manual cleaning, one should spray Windex heavily on paper towel and wipe off the surface of the print head.

Waste ink absorber is almost full

The waste-ink counter for the BJ F900, F890, F700, F500, S900, S820, S750 and S520 are all reset in the same manner.

Turn off the printer.

Press and hold the RESUME button, then press and hold the POWER button.

Release the RESUME button, then press and release the RESUME button two more times in succession. (youre still holding the POWER button during this). The printer mechanics will move momentarily.

You are now in Service mode.

Pressing the RESUME key will select a function; for example, pressing RESUME 4 times will select the clear waste ink counter function. The lamp will alternate color with each key press.

1. service/factory test printout, including ink sensor check
2. EEPROM info printout
3. EEPROM initialization
4. Clear the waste-ink counter
5. Printer model setting. (more selections beyond this- leave this alone)

After selecting mode, press the POWER button to commit the change, and return to the top of the function selection menu. Pressing the POWER button again turns off the printer for a restart.

If you have a defective printer head, your power lamp may flash during the service mode key-in, and info printouts may not work. In this case, clearing the waste-ink counter may not fix your problem.

Waste ink absorber is nearly full

Just had this problem. Turn off the printer. Open the cover and slide the ink tanks all the way over to the left hand side. Take a paper towel and blot the waste ink tank which is on the right hand side near the bottom with a paper towel. Make sure you are wearing gloves. When it looks like you have blotted up most of the ink, pree and hold the resume button, then press and hold the power button. Release the resume button, then press and release the resume button two more times in succession. (You're still holding the power button during this). The printer mechanics will move momentarily.

Printouts streaked

You have probably made sure that there are no tiny scraps of paper in the machine or no globs of inks in the cartridge slots.

You can go to

and chat with a tech online . Since I don't have your machine in front of me, they will be better able to help you. Good luck to you and thank you for using Fix YA

No PRINTOUT, only blank page/ no page received

Dear Teleios
'power button blinking without taking a paper to copy' usually means paper jam or no ink error.
First ensure you have no paper jam and you just replaced both ink cartridges.
If the printer still does not print, or does not print colors or black ink, then the ink must have dried up on printer head/nozzles.
You can try using clean nozzles option from hp printer software several times, and see if this fixes the problem. If it does not you will need to physically clean printer heads inside with solvent and cotton. To do this you need to disassemble part of the printer.
Having same work done in a service centre should cost around 50 euros.
HP DeskJet 3820 InkJet is not an expensive printer, if you cannot fix it with a clean head / nozzles from software you may also consider buying a new one for slightly more than the price of a cartridge change.

Regards

Lexmark P4350 All-in-One--Ink printout problem

It may sound stupid but try cleaning the steel rod that the cartridge runner runs along, with a little luck this may help the situation I know it has for others. It did not help me though. I have a Lexmart P for POXY 4350 that has had little use, but I have just tried to re-fill the black cartridge and kept getting iether the1203 or 1103 error code. I tried everything bar a complete strip down and it still does not work so I went and bought new cartidges and the problem has not gone away I am therefore stuck with £24's worth of rejected cartridges and a visit to Tesco for a new Epson.
