Question about Western Digital My Book Home Edition 500 GB USB Hard Drive
I unsafely unistalled my external hard drive, and now it's not reading on any computer... It won't even show up. when I open My Computer, it's there, but as a Local Drive. Then I try opening it just doesn't open or sometimes freezes the Computer. Please help me.. anybody.. I've got really precious pictures and Home Videos that I hope I will not loose.
All help is appreciated.
I would suggest a professional data recovery company such as TechRx, Inc. The Western Digital (anything) is sensitive to power fluctuations (such as unplugging without ejecting) on /off issues. Parts on the PCB (control board on the drive) can burn and causes problems.
I wouldn't recommend turning it on and off too many more times without having it looked at. Especially, when the photos are important.

It could be that the "table of contents" on the external disk-drive has been scrambled. Whatever you _do_ try, do _NOT_ try to run 'CHKDSK' (or "check disk") against the drive.
Instead, look online for "File Scavenger" software, which can read through the drive, sector by sector, and try to "stitch" together the pieces, in order to "recover" your files.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
