Sounds strange, I would try a different USB cable.

I am searching for the right cable-connection from my Mini DV digital camcorder JVC GR- D740-E to my pc (laptop) Acer Aspire 5735 Z. One end of the cable must be a firewire 4 points ?? for my camcorder...

More than likely a Mini USB to USB cable, like most mobile phones use. Take your camcorder in to the electronics shop and they will find you a cable or look it up in your user manual. It will be down as an accessory.
Hope that helps.

Hi HRU? Sir pls tell me how I can copy my Movies from Cam Coder of Sony DCR-HC28E in my pc although I have connect via usb cable to my computer but no any reply i foud. So pls guide me how I can?

This is the step-by-step for downloading from your camera as found on Sony's tutorial page:

  1. Turn on the computer.
  2. On the computer, install the USB driver for the digital camcorder. Note: Only the USB driver included on the supplied CDROM will properly enable the digital camcorder for USB streaming. Alternatively, you can download the USB driver here.
  3. Turn on the digital camcorder to the VTR, VCR or PLAYBACK mode.
  4. Turn on the USB streaming feature of the digital camcorder.
  5. Connect the USB cable to the digital camcorder.
  6. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the computer.
  7. Cue the video to the beginning of the video footage to be transferred.
  8. Start the video capture software on the computer.
  9. Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
  10. Begin importing the recorded video with the capture software.

What can I find a usb cord for this camcorder? What size fits this one?

Hello

OK, firstly, the DATA USB cable you need for this specific model is an USB 2 Mini-B 5pin cable.

You will be able to buy this specific cable at any computer, camera or electric store near you for about $5 - $10.

I really hope this can be of help.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Kind regards
Andrea

The Charger has a standard two pronged plug to go into the wall. The other end goes into the camera at the back bottom. You will see the female received for the male plug.

Panasonic Palmcorder PV-GS85 Problem: Capture video with Windows Moview maker via USB

I believe you have to use a Firewire (IEEE 1394) cable to transfer the video. From what I have read, the USB connection is only if you want to use the camcorder as a "live" camera.
