Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
Don't try the towel trick!!!! It will damage the Xbox even more.
The problem is caused by a bad design flaw in the heat sinks X-clamps. when the motherboard warms up it pulls the connections away from the GPU (graphics processing unit). This is your problem at the moment.
What you need to do is force the Xbot to overheat.
Get a couple of cue tips (cotton buds) and remove the cotton from each end and then bend them at one end making a large L shape.
Remove the AV lead, hard drive and any ethernet or wireless box from the Xbox and make sure its turned off.
Lay the Xbox on its side (flat) and look behind the Xbox where the air vents are. If you look close enough you will see two fans (you made a torch to see them correctly)
Insert a cue tip between the fan blades of both fans to stop them rotating.
Turn the Xbox on and leave it on for around 5-7 minutes watch the power button on the Xbox until you see just 2 red flashing lights. This means it has overheated.
When you see the 2 red lights remove power and leave the Xbox to cool down for about half an hour.
Connect the AV lead and all other things like the hard drive etc and power it up.
You should now have a working Xbox but there is a chance it will do it again. If it does you will need to modify the X-claps.
My recommendation to you is when you play the Xbox leave it layed on its side.
Good luck and regards.
