Protect

You have to reset your system... Use a pen to push a small button that's located in the front of the face plate. That will reset the system...If it gets stuck on standby, just push the SRC button on the face plate or on the remote..

No sound from zenith dvt412 stuck in bypass mode..how to override?

this is a protection circuit.
When bypass mode then it means that something in the power supply module has failed and the unit then goes into protection mode to protect the board components.
Your surround sound need service from a qualified tech. No other remedy.

Have a kenwood car stereo, MP3. It has been stuck on on screen that displays protect and will not play anything.

You should disconnect the red wire that goes to battery. Leave disconnected for at least 8 hours so the player can reset. Most newer electroinics have these stupid protection systems that are way to touchy. I think companies just don't want us listening to loud music anymore.

"Protector" error

I had a similar problem and went to Sony tech support.

Seemed my disc got stuck somehow...

Try reseting the system by holding the STOP and the EJECT and the POWER buttons together...
It should go to demo mode....

Then try PLAY to see if you can get the system to read teh disc...
then EJECT...

It took me several trys of doing this but it did work....on the 3rd try.

RC cable in headphone jack then to power source now ''protect''

This generally means that you've got a short somewhere.  You most likely *don't* need to bring it in for repair.
If you're familiar with how your system's set up, do the following: 1) Unplug the receiver from the wall. 2) Unplug your gear from the receiver 3) Plug the receiver back in 4) Plug each individual component into the receiver, and test it as you go.
The "protect" is there to protect you from damaging your system, which is why it still works (sort of.)
If that solution doesn't work, check all your speaker connections.  One may have come loose, and you've got positive and negative connections touching each other.

Stuck in protect mode

i believe protect mode is because you have the wrong impedence speakers, they are too low (4 ohm? 6 ohm?) it chols work with 8 ohm speakers

Protection

ther audio amp ic is bad & needs to be replaced. mini systems are hard to work on because everything is so compact in the unit. if you can work on electronics, you will find the ic screwed to a big heatsing in the unit. on the ic will be stamped a number. the number is the part number you will need to get. get the exact same number. could be like "stk XXX" or could other letters/numbers. also check for an open fuse. sometimes the fuse goes when the ic goes bad. good luck.
