Mcdevito75 here, Souds like that is 1 of the return springs for either the left or righ button (click) functions on your mouse, look under the cover itself for some sort of seat for this spring,

i beliece it is very fiddly to put that certain spring back in cus it is hard to see where they go back, my advice is to go to a local PC store and get them to use the right tools to place it back in for you.

Left click is not working

Unscrew the mouse and check for the contact and adjust the alignment of the casing to the click switch contact. Reinstall the HP wireless mouse software that might reset the settings. Have a nice day.

Had the same issue today - you've probably solved by now yourself but adding images for others. Bit fiddly, but got there in the end. Getting the orientation of the housing and the spin click spring is a bit awkward.

Suddenly my left click button stopped working. Is it fixable or can I buy just the mouse, since it came with a wireless keyboard.

You can try to repair it, but to be honest, unless it just got off its track, they are cheaper to just buy another one.
First you will neet to unscrew the screw from the bottom, then it should easily come apart. Look into the area where the switches are and see if there is anything jammed into the area where the buttons touch the switches. Feel if the switch clicks when you push it. Clean it, and put it back together and then see if it works.

Cant get it back together

I put together what I knew where it went, the put the whole thing together and looked at it before putting in the screws. I saw a hole and remembered a "button" there that moved sideways with a spring pushing it back into the original place. I reopened and after examining the part put it in that slot. I then put it together and it worked. I put the screws back in then and all is well
Thank you for the reply.
Glad I found your site. I will keep it if I ever need any help.
