My T650n is leaking toner on pages I am printing. Using Lexmark branded recycled by Lexmark toer cartridges and about 2/3 are having this leaking problem. It is getting expensive. Is this a well know issue with these printers or cartridges?

Toner cartridges do leak but not all of them. are you getting toner build up inside the printer cavity? can you see where it is leaking visually looking at the toner? toners usually leak around the drive gears. if your fuser is not running hot enough the printer will get incomplete fusing and the toner will build up on the fuser rollers then make blotches on the print jobs. take a flashlight and check the rollers on the fuser to see if they have any build up on them. when toners start to leak they usually leave toner on every page.

It is leaking and leaves toner on every page, the backs of pages and is visible on the roller in the toner cartridge. We are using Lexmark brand cartridges. It is about 2 of every 3 cartridges that we have this problem with. Crappy cartridges or crappy printer? Both are Lexmark.

i would guess that lexmark third parties these toners out like alot of companies try a different brand there are lots of them that guarantee there cartridges. The printer isnt doing it.

I have a Lexmark C522 Color Laser printer, all cartridges are showing as ok, no error messages but printed pages have specks of magenta toner on them

It sounds as though you have a leaking toner cartridge. If you aren't using Lexmark brand toner, that is VERY likely.. nobody seems to be able to make a good compatible cartridge. Test by replacing it.

Laser printer has dark cast to entire page, prints ok.

You notice that the copies you print have a dark shadow across the entire page but otherwise seems to print fine.

You have a problem with the toner cartridge.

Toner copier/printers print by transfering toner to a drum using electrostatic electricity and depositing it on the paper. Once on the paper it is set using a heating element or fuser.

Over time the brush which contains the toner in the cartridge and the scraper which scrapes off any excess toner, or toner which is left on the drum, wears and allows extra toner to remain on the drum, which gives the dark shading I mentioned.

To compound the problem these days the cartridges are recycled and obviously at some point the scraper will wear out and you may be the unlucky person who purchased the unit. If that is the case I suggest returning the unit to the store of purchase and exchanging it or getting your money back. Most reputable stores do not have a problem doing this.

New cartridges would run out of toner prior to this problem developing. They have been designed to last slightly longer than the amount of toner which is in them. When recycled and refilled the problems start.

Recycled and refilled cartridges are not always marked as such so there is no way to tell if yours is a recycled unit.

Another problem these days is the drums are being made out of plastic instead of metal. They wear faster and die sooner and cannot be recycled successfully as often. Once they have a scratch they will never print a nice copy again.

If yours is plastic that is probably the problem. No matter which problem you have, worn scraper or plastic worn out toner cartridge, the solution is the same.

You need to purchase and install a new toner cartridge.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Using a dry cloth, wipe off any visible roller contamination inside the printer.

When I print a test page or any other page on my hp laserjet 4 plus printer, the print is barely visible. The background on the page is very cloudy, as if the page was dipped in water. How can I resolve...

My first suspicion is the toner cartridge if it is a recycled cartridge. Did the problem exist prior to installing the new cartridge? If not check the print density. It should be set to 3. Turn off toner saver options.

T632 lexmark getting dirt on printed pages

Hi Krimlakh,
Try replacing the toner cartridge first. Usually when this happens the waste hopper of the toner cartridge is full and start to leak on to the page.
