From time to time, you may experience problems with the optical mouse. Most of these are problems that can be solved quickly at home. Microsoft provides users with updated drivers and software to ensure the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse continues to work smoothly.

Troubleshooting most problems will take less than 30 minutes. Follow the steps/instructions below on how to troubleshoot your mouse:

  1. You can start by downloading recent Windows Update. Go to "Start -- All Programs -- Windows Update."
  2. Try another USB port for the wireless receiver. If using a USB hub, try connecting the receiver to a port directly on the computer. The problem may be a bad port or hub. Restart your computer after reconnecting the mouse's wireless receiver.
  3. Use the Microsoft Troubleshooter to find potential problems. This wizard tries to find common issues based on input you provide. Right click "My Computer" and press "Manage." Highlight "Device Manager." Expand "Mice and Other Pointing Devices" and select the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse. If the mouse isn't displayed, skip to Step 6.
Right-click the mouse and press "Properties." Press "Troubleshoot."
Alternately, go to "Start -- Help and Support" and type "Troubleshoot USB Device."
  4. Update drivers and software. Go to "Device Manager" as stated in Step 3. Right-click the mouse and press "Update Driver." This will find the most current driver.
Download the latest version of Intellipoint from the site listed in the Resources section. The installation is in a wizard format.
  5. Set a slower pointer speed and channel. Go to "Start -- Run" and type "control main.cpl." Press "Ok." Choose "Pointer Options" and choose a slower pointer speed.
To change the channel, press "Channel Connect" on the bottom of the mouse. Wait for the sync light to be a steady green before testing the mouse.
  6. Uninstall any software for the optical mouse, unplug the wireless receiver, restart your computer, and completely reinstall the mouse.
  7. Ensure no surrounding objects are interfering with the optical mouse. Fans, lights, metals, and other wireless signals may be causing interference.
I wish you Good Luck.

I have an HP wireless mouse and keyboard, my mouse suddenly stopped working, how can I fix?

It is possible the mouse needs new batteries or needs to be charged.

Try replacing the batteries to see if the mouse starts working.

If that does not work then try re-inserting the wireless receiver into a different USB slot.

I have just bought a netbook and had to reformat it already, and now my Belkin mini wireless moouse will not work. Device managers says my driver is updated and working properly, but I can't get it to work...

Check your batteries in the wireless mouse?
You likely have to sync the mouse to the reciever... usually done by pressing a button on the mouse or keyboard for 6 seconds or so.
If all else fails...
Download the latest drivers from the mfg website.
Uninstall - Reinstall and reboot.

Left clicker doesn't work on my hp optical mouse

Sorry to say it's most likely a failed switch on the mouse. You will have to replace it. Try a hard-wired mouse first if you can to confirm.

Wireless Mouse & Keyboard not working

Did you replace the batteries? That is likely the cause of the problem.

If you replaced the batteries and this is still occurring, verify that the wireless antenna is not near another source of wires and that can interfere with proper connectivity.
