Question about Brother ML-500 Typewriter
I have an ML-500 and my ribbon is sticking when I type, so basically I'm typing over the same place in the ribbon. I replace the ribbon thinking it was the ribbon itself, but it is still doing it. The part of the typewriter that turns the ribbon is working, but when I put on the ribbon I get this problem.
Try replacing your ribbon make sure that you have a Brother AX-10 [ 1030 OR 1230] ribbon in your machine. Also try turning your machine on and off a few times, to see if your print wheel is truning. You can also open the lid to your machine, put the black handle back [toward you] and lift the print wheel out of the machine - blow some air into the wheel -replace it and press the black handle back [towards the machine] until it clicks, than turn the machine back on. your ribbon 'driver' the orange knob on the cassette, try turning it clockwise. good luck.

You may have a wrong ribbon, sometime the small parts where the ribbon turn gear goes into does not match up correctly. Can you turn the ribbon manually by hand, if the ribbon does not turn it will not type....
