Question about Ryobi Garden

1 Answer

Replacing fuel line on ryobi 775r trimmer. when i removed old line and filter, the plastic fitting with the filter protruded about 1/4'' out of tank and was held by plastic retainer ring, now i can get the fitting and line to protude more than about a 1/16'' of an inch- not enough to accept the retainer ring- is there a trick to forcing/pushing the filter fitting back through tank? I can't get my fingers or anything else i've tried on the filter fitting to push it through the tank.

First off, get a piece of fuel line longer than you need for the job. With the gas tank removed, wrapped in a towel and put in a vice to steady it I fed the gas line in from the outside of the tank to through the fuel hole (where the gas cap fits on). I carefully worked the fuel line onto the filter until it was all the way on (touching the bottom of the filter assembly). I then gently pulled on the line feeding it through the hole. Then with gentle pulling, twisting and nudging from inside and outside the tank I worked the fuel filter nipple through the hole on the bottom of the tank until it was flush and secure.. Once the filter and fuel line were secure in the hole on the bottom of the tank, I then worked the secure ring up the fuel line and worked it onto the filter stem until it was snug. I then fed the line through the appropiate holes in the engine, trimmed it to size and fitted it on the nipple on the engine.

Fuel lines rotten

There are two fuel lines, a supply and a return. The supply line is the long one and hangs in the tank where it can follow the fuel as the machine is moved around, it often has a weighted filter attached to it. The return line just protrudes into the tank from the carb. To sort out the pipes, fit them and operate the primer bulb. The fuel should be sucked into the long tube and return through the short one. There are special slilcone rubber tubes made especially for these small machines. Normal plastic tubing goes hard, will not move around with the fuel movement and eventually disintergrates.

How to replace fuel lines on model725r ryobiweed wacker

There are usually only two fuel lines on a Ryobi motor, a supply and a return line. The supply line is a long one and is designed to move around the tank as the unit is moved around, some hafe a weight with a filter on in the tank. The other line is shorter and just protrudes into the tank, this is the return line. The piping you fit should be the special silicon rubber pipes as these are fuel proof, normal plastic pipes become hard and do not move around in the tank, and eventually crack or disintergrate. Replace the new pipes the same as you remove the old ones, if you go wrong, just change the pipes around on the carb, you will see if you are sucking air with the primer bulb.

I need the fuel/oil mixture for Ryobi 31cc 775r gas weedeater. Also the diaphram for the fuel line replacement.

The fuel/oil mixture is 40:1. That is 3.2 oz. oil/US gallon. Now for the fuel lines:

The small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects directly to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb "pulls" fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then "pushes" any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Again, on the primer bulb, the longer nipple has a line going directly from it to the tank. This is the return line. The shorter nipple on the bub has a line from it going to the metering chamber side of the carb. If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb...small line from carb body to small hole in tank with filter. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where sometimes the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the tank. Otherwise, the line should enter the tank for about 1/2" or so.

Fuel line routing on ryobi 775r

One line ( the one with the fuel filter in the end of it) comes out of the fuel tank and goes to the lower port on the carburator. The second line goes from the fuel tank to the bottom fitting on the primer bulb. The third section goes from the top port on the primer bulb to the top port on the carburator. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Ryobi 775r gas trimmer stalling when tilted

You have a air leak between to tank and motor. Could be carb gasket. When using in tilted position you dont have gravity feeded carb anymore, causing air to be sucked into carb. Take off carb and spray with crb cleaner, then blow out with air gun. Replace gasket, make sure all new lines and bulb connections are connected securely.

Ryobi 768r fuel line

Line from tank with the filter on it is the supply line and goes to the carb inlet fitting. This is typically on the "bottom" of the carb (with the tank being up) and will usually have a fitting with barbs or a bulge on it to ensure a tight fit. The other fitting on the carb is the return line and is usually a straight tube fitting with no barbs. That line goes the suction side of the primer bulb. The third line goes from the outlet of the primer bulb to the return barb fitting in the bottom of the tank. Fittings have to be removed from tank to properly install the new hoses on them. Remove retainer ring on outide of tank and push fittings into tank, then shake out of the fill opening. More details on replacing hoses are listed in another post about Repairing Ryobi trimmer.

To leemineres, if hoses are on right and unit still stalls after starting initially you probably need to disassemble carb and clean out using spray carb cleaner. May be sticky needle valve, or partially plugged port or jet.Could also be hole in diaphragm. Gasket and diaphragm kit would be good to add when you take apart, even if diaphragm does not have a hole.
