I can help you with your Bose Lifestyle 20 audio system.

One reason your Bose Lifestyle 20 audio system may not eject the CD magazine is due to mechanical error. If this is the case, the display should indicate 'E01'. If you see this message, try unplugging the music center, pausing, and then reconnecting power. If 'E01' reappears, your unit requires servicing.

Another feature of your Bose Lifestyle 20 is to lockdown the CD mechanism for transporting. Your audio system is supposed to release the mechanism lockdown the next time CD is selected. Try running through these lockdown procedure steps to see if you can release the CD magazine:

To transport your music center, follow these steps to lock down the CD mechanism.

  1. Eject the CD magazine.
  2. Make sure the music center is off (all zones).
  3. On the music center, press STORE, ERASE, and PLAY/PAUSE at the same time. Then release.
  4. Press and hold the EJECT button for 10 seconds. The CD elevator moves into locked down position.
  5. If you hear the elevator continue to move up and down, wait 10 seconds and then repeat steps 3 and 4.
If your CD magazine is still not ejecting, there is one more thing you can try before having the unit serviced. I recommend you try to reset your audio system.

There are two levels of reset to try with your Bose Lifestyle 20 audio system:

  1. Unplug the music center power pack for one full minute, then reconnect it. This allows the unit to reset itself after a power surge or power interruption.
  2. If the system is still not responding, press STORE, ERASE, and ON/OFF (on the music center) at the same time. This is a hard reset of the Bose Lifestyle 20 audio system.

I hope that helps.

There was something I meant to mention but forgot:

If the above doesn't release your CD magazine, there is also a manual release underneath the unit.

    1. Follow these steps for the Bose LifeStyle 20 manual cd release:

    2. Unplug and turn you unit upside-down so you are looking at the bottom.

    3. You will find a slot just left of the molded sign "manual cd release".

    4. Shine a flashlight in and you'll see a U shaped cut out sheet metal on top of another piece of sheet metal.

    5. Stick a thin blade down against the U and pull away from the front CD door. Travel is about 1/2 inch until it releases.
In this way you can recover your CD's if you do end up returning the unit for service, & there is a chance that that following this procedure will allow your device to being loading and unload the CD magazine effectively again.

    I hope that helps.

A CD is stuck in my bose system How do I get it out?

From an other web site

If you have a cd or two stuck in your Bose wave radio, here's how to remove it and save yourself $99. This procedure is for the radio (model AWRCC1 or similar) with a single front loading cd slot.

PART I
1. First unplug the power, wait a minute, and then replug power, watching the front display.
2. The display will read "Ejecting". If the cd ejects, then you're done and can skip Part II. If it doesn't eject and/or it displays "Disk error" then you'll need to do the Part II steps.

PART II
1. Unplug the power cord.
2. Turn the radio upside down with the front facing you.
3. Remove the 5 screws from the bottom plate.
4. Hinge the front of the bottom plate up no more than 2". Don't overdo this or you'll damage various ribbon cables inside. Use extra hands or a prop to keep it open this amount.
5. Reach inside and tilt-up the front of cd player's metal housing just enough to access the rims of the cd(s) within the space created in step 4.
6. Pinch the rim(s) of the cd(s) and gently pull it/them out.
7. Reverse these steps to reassemble your radio.

Enjoy your cd player again!

I can not eject a disc from the disc player. I've heard this is a common problem. Thanks. Curt Pasawicz

Hi curt730,

You're right, this is a known issue for years with Bose Lifestyle. You may try these steps to resolve the issue:

Note: You will need a flashlight and a small screwdriver.

1. First, disconnect the base unit from the system.

2. Turn the base unit upside down and find the access hole embossed with "Manual magazine release" on the CD player side.

3. Then, using the flashlight, look inside the base unit at those access holes and find the fine spring and locate where it fastens to the sheet metal of the CD player.

4. The moment you find the spring you should see that it connects to the CD player chassis at the forward end and a piece of sheet metal that is on top (actually underneath when the base unit is right-wide up) of the CD player chassis at the rear end. This is the manual release mechanism.

5. Finally using the small screwdriver, push the release mechanism rearward to release the CD magazine from the player. The magazine should pop out.

If the magazine is not released, then the CD that is still in the player has not been slid back fully into the magazine. In this case you'll need to plug the base unit back into power and hope that the CD is retracted, allowing you to push the release mechanism rearward. If not then you'll have to open the base unit to access the CD player.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I gave the Bose Wave Radio and 3-cd player to a friend for

Unplug and plug back in. It should go through a automatic process, ejecting any discs that are inside. If all you hear is a mechanical noise, try this again only with the disc trays facing the ceiling.

Hi, Underneath the unit you will see a small slot and "manual cd eject" embossed on the case , a jewelers screwdriver or darning needle or anything stiff and thin to pull down the wire lever inside the slot should do it.

Bose multi cd changer wont work, reads "Disc error"

I think there may be a problem with the system (defective parts) - I, too, am having this issue. I am going to contact the BBB - maybe if enough of us complain we will get a recall. To file a complaint:

CD stuck in BOSE 3 disk stack player

I had the same problem and went to the Bose Tech Support site and found this solution. It allowed me to eject the stuck CD. The same problem happened again when I tried to enter another CD but after repeating the process below the CD ejected again and after that it worked fine.
Hope it works for you.
  • Try performing a reset with your Wave® music system upside down:
    1. Unplug the system, flip it upside down, place it on a firm, level surface, then plug it back in again

    2. If the CD ejects when you do this, the system may need to be serviced. Contact Bose® Technical Support or call 1-800-278-1281
