Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator
We have a side by side GE refrigerator that automatically shuts off completely and then after a few hours, it starts up again and works fine. It cools thinks when it is working and it makes ice. The issue is that while it is off, water starts leaking from bottom. Once it starts, it freezes and we have to manually break up ice so that when it happens again, it will not leave all over the floor. This has been going on for quite a while. I don't want to get rid of it because it does keep food cold. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: GE refrigerator
this may be water from the defrost cycle. if this drains to tray over compressor, check tray is not too full (water evaporates from heat of compressor) otherwise defrost water will go to a seperate container which may have a split or is overflowing. fault can also be caused by poor door seals which would produce too much ice on evaporator pipes

I bought a brand new smartwater replacement filter and after a very short time, my water stopped coming through the door.. took out the new replacement filter and inserted a brand new one .. problem solved.. apparently some of the g.e. smartwater filter replacement cartridges don't have the high enough two plastic inserts which are attached to them at the top of the filter when you screw them on... if you have taken your cartridge in and out a few times, i think it wears down the plastic so it doesn't fit properly and won't put up whatever it is supposed to push up to make the water come through.. I personally think this is a g.e. problem with the replacement filters...

1 -Ice maker arm must be down(on position)2-Make sure the water supply line is connected to the fridge3Check if the ice maker is plugged in4The freezer must be working fine for the ice maker to produce ice. After the ice maker stars and calls for water and doesn't get any , the water valve is bad.And if everything above is ok the ice maker needs to be replaced.
