I have a Sony KD-34XBR960 that sound like it is

phillips has the same problem but if your tv actually turns on it could be a short or just a fuse sonys a better tv than phillips should be an easy fix call a repir guy going price for that problem is 75.00 dont pay any more than that. the economy is bad everyone needs the work be smart. make sure if you say yes to the work that the repair guy will waive the consultaion cost of usually 35 to 75 dollars, if you chose to have the work done.

Samsung DLP turns on and off - cycle repeats

make sure put the lamp door back before trying to turn it on because they have switches on them that allow the tv to turn on. If that is ok you probably have a bad ballast.
Call a local tv repair shop to further diagnose the problem.

Watching tv when the picture went black and now the green on light flashes for 30 times and turns off

A green flashing light for this model of TV indicates that the lamp cover is open on the TV.
  1. Unplug the power cable to the TV.
  2. Remove the 2 retaining screws on the lamp cover with a Phillips type screwdriver.
  3. Remove the lamp door completely from the TV.
  4. Remove the two retaining screws on the lamp case.
  5. Lift up the fixed wire handle of the lamp.
  6. Pull out the handle slowly and remove the lamp case.
  7. Insert the new lamp gently into the correct position. Make sure it is inserted correctly.
  8. Using a manual Phillips screwdriver (Do Not use an electric screwdiver), tighten the screws you removed in
    step 3.
  9. Replace the lamp cover and tighten the cover screws.
  10. Plug in the power cord and turn on the TV. After the initial warmup period (which may take up to several
seconds for full picture brightness), the TV should operate normally.
If any of the following conditions exist, turn off the TV, unplug the power cord, and repeat steps 1–9 to ensure that the lamp unit and lamp unit
door are installed correctly:
  • The lamp indicator flashes green.
  • No picture
  • Dark picture
  • TV will not turn on
If, after repeating steps 1–10, the problem still exists, call Customer Service at 1-800-631-3811.

Turn on tv pic turns gray and black lines then turns off

Hello,

I am happy to assist you. If I am not mistaked about your model, I know of a fix for some models and that for sure. According to your description, I know of this descripition and if it fits the fix I know about then I am sure to tell you the problem.

You have to take the back off the set (UNPLUG TV) and look on the neck of the picture tube on the circuit board there is a resistor (do research on what a resistor is on the net) that opens up and it is a 10 ohm resistor and the color code is brown black black. It is about half inch long with wire coming out both sided sitting straight up position from the circuit board. Can be measured with an ohm meter. You can get 5 of them for a dollar at Radio Shack and it must be soldered in after taking the old one out being careful not to break the printed circuit.

Your symptom should be also getting brighter and brighter and then shutting off.

Hope this helps

Sound, but no picture. Standby light blinking 5 times

A few weeks ago my set started flashing to a black screen. Now a couple of weeks later, i have no picture, but the set turns on and i have sound. The standby light is flashing. I purchased the set in 2000 so it is seven years old. This is the first problem. Could it be all three of the bulbs? Could it be all three of the bulbs? no as you say that sound is ok that means your power supply &high voltage section is ok. please check chroma ic luminance section or system control section stand by ckt ihanks
