Bosch HydroSensor Dishwasher (SGS5342GB/17) - cleans dishes but constantly leaves a gritty residue in cups, glasses and now on plates. I have to rewash items and the problem is getting worse. I have cleaned filter, topped up salt and am now stuck as what else the problem could be. The dishwasher was here when we bought the house (2 years ago). Any ideas? Thanks

the spray arms are not rotating check they spin freely if they do remove them and clean any residue food deposits blocking holes for water spray.

most likely it is your detergent. palmolive eco is notorious for leaving a white chalky residue on dishes. try this out before calling a service tech: put unclean glasses in the dishwasher and in your soap dish and rinse cycle cup put 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar. if it cleans (or improves) your dishes, then your detergent is the culprit.

Although I previously posted with the same problem of a film on the dishes after cleaning, I did find a section in the owner's manual which solved my problem. Lift up the rinse aid cap on the inside door - the factory setting is on "4". The rinse aid works in conjunction with your local water, which has variations in it's hardness or softness. When your dishes are streaky, lower the rinse aid setting to 1 or 2. If your dishes are spotted, raise the rinse aid setting higher.
