We have this same problem and the switching the power off didn't work. We also have a metal rod supporting the power and hoses which seems to be ok.

We had this problem a few days ago. We called a repairperson, who recommended unplugging the unit, then replugging. It seemed to reboot it — closes as it should and works fine.

Make sure that the retaining tabs on either side of the drawer at the lower front are engaged properly. They sometimes don't positively engage and you will feel the difference when the drawer is pushed. It sounds as though this is the case as you state you can feel 'resistance' Undo the tabs and re-engage them a couple of times to check. The drawer should run smoothly without resistance when they are engaged correctly. Check how the lower drawer moves to compare.

If the drawer is returning smoothly but feels like it's striking resistance towards the rear just before it's fully home, it's likely that the hoses are kinking/fouling behind the drawer and/or that the linkage support is broken.

If you have this older style white plastic linkage rods that hold the hoses, I would strongly recommend replacing it. It's the white plastic rod that has clamps attached to it with all the power, inlet and drainage hoses running through it.

You can get the 'retro fit linkage support' from an authorised F&P parts supplier. This is a retro fit that has specifically been designed to overcome the shortfalls of the original plastic linkage support. This consists of a metal rod and mounting plate with takes over the function of the plastic drainage support.

There are detailed instrucitons with the retro fit support which explains how to fit it. It was well under $100 when I bought one and worth the investment.

Good luck and remember always turn the power off before attempting any repairs.

I had a problem but mine was closing further, turns out there was a small object between the bottom plate and the closing of the bottom drawer. This can only happen to the bottom drawer and I felt rather lame analyzing the dish drawer when such an obvious obstruction was there, I violated the KISS principle...

Yes ,you may be able to restore function by completely drying the area and PC board located under drawer.Use a hair dryer.
However , you will still have a leak and the problem will return.Usually the leak is drawer lid not closing properly. Suspect lid actuators have failed.Very common.Or some kind of obstruction. The drawer can be removed easily by removing 2 large plastic scews at drawer front. If lid actuators have never been replaced go ahead and do that.It is normal for other drawer to work fine.

Hope this helps you

I have a Fisher and Paykel Dish Drawer dishwasher. The top drawer is not closing properly

it is likely the lid seal is stuck. You will have to get the drawer out and check the underside of the cabinet at the top.

The lid seal is a rubber lining which is actuated by a pair of motors. If the motors are faulty or the power is to the motors is lost, then the seal will not go up to let the drawer sit properly.;

Make sure the unit is level. Remove drawer. On the inside of the cabnet there are the drawer runners on iether side. Behind these there are a pair catches. If one or both of these are latched back when they shouldn't be, ie. when the drawer is open, they will obstruct the drawer from closing fully and fail to hold it closed.

Hope this helps

The top drawer of my Fisher Paykel two drawer dishwasher will not close all the way. Something appears to be stopping it. How do I fix it?

To find out what might be blocking it, you can remove the drawer. There are two tabs one on each side of the drawer near the bottom front. Push those in and pull the drawer out. You can lift the drawer up and push the slides in to get them out of the way. Then you should be able to see into the cabinet and what if anything is stuck behind the drawer

Sounds like the lid is not opening all the way. Rubber may be coming off lid seal during opening and closing. Check you lid actuators replace both right and left if needed.

Fisher Paykel Dishwasher Door Open error code

If it is a dish drawer type there is a clip at the rear of the drawer that holds the drawer closed. you will need to withdraw the drawer partially to look in. with the drawer open the fingers should be facing towards you. If not you will need to reach in and pull the top of the fingers towards the front. there is a replacement arm that holds the pipes and cables away from this part.
