Question about Briggs & Stratton Garden
Could be the starter, but check simpler things first -- remove the battery connections (negative first). Check that the fat red cable from battery positive to starter isn't frayed at the connector or partially broken internally, and that the connection at the solenoid end is bolted down tightly. Also check that the ground strap from the battery negative is bolted solidly to the chassis, not rusted or loose. If all this is OK, reconnect the battery terminals (negative last) and if all you get is a click on turning the key, you do probably have a bad starter or solenoid. They are replaced as a unit. Can find it on eBay or order from a small engine supplier. Good luck!
